I'm sick of RedOctane, got my pad this month, and it never worked the way it's supposed to! arrow stick, dont register, its a piece of crap, I asked for a refund and RO never answer my e-mail !

I've tried the online form and they never sent me any pre-paid return label. I'm from Canada and it seem they dont give a f1ck about canadian customer, you can't even choose a province outside U.S. in their form !

I'm starting to think about putting this piece of crap to trash and keeping the control box to make my own metal pad...

Red Octane suck! never buy from theses a$$holes!!

So...
I guess that the Cobalt Flux is my only choice. -sob sob- That'll never happen.

The RO ignition 3.0 is a horrible pad.
I guarantee it will start malfunctioning within 3 months if you play often on heavy. 3 months is a generous estimate too.
DO NOT BUY THIS!
I've owned two of these, both stopped working after 2 months, and my friend has gone through 3 in the same time frame.
I would buy another one of these pads only if the price were lowered to about 40 bucks. That's how much they are worth, in my opinion.

3 monthes? I got one once and it was broken out of the box. You'd be better off getting a $20 soft pad from Mad Catz. Literally.

I got mine and I play 11s on ITG with it. I've had mine more than three months and mine still works perfectly fine.

I can go and play hard songs and still get 99s.

I've had a good time with mine. E10.gif

I've had your same luck (except I do 12's and 13's on it too E15.gif ).

No way in hell. Seriously. When my GameStop pad broke and before I got my Ignition, I was forced to use a Mad Catz for about a month. I was ready to shread/burn/mutilate that thing. Mad Catz is the worst value ever. The 'non-slip surface' was the equivalent of trying to play DDR on a Slip 'N Slide. The surface may not be much better on the Ignition, but at least the mat it heavy enough to stay somewhat positioned during Heavy play. I'm starting to have minor arrow spasms with my Ignition, but there are so few in number that I could care less. So far I have been very satisfied with my Ignition. I've A'd things I couldn't even pass on my Mad Catz with my Ignition. I'd much rather have a metal pad, as the transition from home to arcade play is hard for me, but the chance of me ever getting one of those is slim to none. For me, the Ignition is perfect.

I guess it's just the luck of the draw, but I don't know why so many people hate the Ignition.

I need some help with my RO pad. The pad tends to move forward while I play rather fast songs like max300, psmo, LoM, etc. Sometimes it moves after I've been playing several songs on standard. How can I prevent this from happening? I've tried putting weight on the edges of the pad but I dont have anything small enough and heavy enough to prevent it from moving away from my feet. Any ideas???

Also, I realized that the instructions say not to wear socks while playing E19.gif

Don't double post and be upset because someone didn't respond to you immediately, especially when you did such only three minutes after your original post.

Mine moves around a bit too. I have it backed up to the chair I use as a bar, and it moves to the right during every song. After the song, I just center it again. Maybe you could put a couple of heavy objects in front of pad, say bricks or weights. That's assuming that it backs up to something. Or you know that sort of sticky foamy stuff they make for putting on top of desks? You could try attaching that to the bottom of your mat and see if that works. I haven't done anything to mine, so I don't know how to help very much.

I'd go with the instructions. I actually made holes in my socks sliding them around on that mat. It's much easier to play in bare feet. E1.gif

I do the same thing with my metal pad. Shoes are too noisy and I'd snag my feet on a screw or something without socks.

I would actually reccomend playing with socks on, because your bare feet will do more wera-and-tear on your pad.

As for the sliding problem, here's what I did with mine; go to a fabric store and buy velcro strips (thick ones, about 2", make sure you get the hooks) and use duct tape to tape them to the bottom of the pad. Provided you're playing on carpet, it works good. If not, get some double sided tape and put it on the bottom of the pad. You can still move it if you need to, since the glue from the tape will still provide some traction even if the glue is wearing down. Just replace the tape every once in a while.

I just received my *new* remplacement Ignition 3.0... and it's the same crappy pad as the one i've returned, arrows register half of the time, random arrow freeze... but i've found the problem!

the problem is not the pad itself, it's the control box! i've tested the pcb and it's the source of the problem, my both control box do the same ! they dont always register, and i'm testing them directly with a wire... i'm done with RedOctane its a ripoff !

Good think RO is not the only one making foam pads.

I used Intec hard foam (NOT dense foam - I leave footprints in those) pads before upgrading to their metal variety and they lasted longer than the RO pads I had for Xbox.

I don't know if anyone is interested, but when I got my Ignition I was told that it wasn't compatible with an OS other than XP (I run Win2k). So, I couldn't use my pad with Stepmania, which was the whole point of me buying an Ignition in the first place. Since I used the PCB from my Ignition to build my metal pad, I still had the same problem and wanted to fix it. Anyway, I developed my own driver by manipulating some of the code from the XBCD dance pad driver, and my pad works perfectly with SM now running on Win2k. If anyone has the same problem let me know and I'll upload the driver.

Ok. Last June I got a new Igniton 3.0 pad. My 2.0 left sensor rise moved into the center of the mat somehow. It was always throwing me off, so I got a 3.0. Well, a few days after I unpacked my 2.0, all the crinkles went away, unlike my 3.0. It still has crinkles in it, and it bends some of the arrows so I have ghost steps. Do you know what I should do to fix this??

Add me to the list of people ripped off. I just bought a Ignition Pad and it was DOA. Let's examine the facts, shall we?

- All the professional reviews I read were good, but all the user comments were the exact opposite.
- The pad was created/assembled in China.
- An examination of the pcb revealed very poor soldering. Several circuits bleed into neighboring circuits... um, yeah.

My observation? My wife's family is in the importing business, so I know what it's like to deal with China. RO has got to be having serious quality control issues with their factory. My guess is that the factory screwed up, and rather then return the product RO decided to send the working units (the ones they actually tested) to places for review. Then they sent the rest of the units to us.

This is purely speculative, but it's good enough for me.

HOW HARD could it be to test each one of these pads? Any kid would be willing to do that, FOR cheap! Thanks for choosing to rip us off instead.

PS - RO is based in California. Hmm... where's the number to the Better Business Bureau?
