The commercial pads are much more durable than the regular cobalt fluxes.

Normal cobalt fluxes are extremely durable compared to other pads. However normal cobalt fluxes would not be durable enough for a gym setting or a school setting. In both these settings, the pads would be used for probably 5 plus hours every day. A person at home would use a normal cobalt flux at most maybe 2 hours every day. A normal cobalt flux might break if it were used in a school or gym setting. The normal cobalt flux has a six month warranty. The commercial pads have at least a one year warranty.

Because the commercial pads are more durable, they are more expensive. Cobalt Flux hasn't announced the prices of their commercial pads, but someone else on another post mentioned that the pads may be $1300. Here is the link to that post: http://www.ddrfreak.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=117068

I got the oppurtunity to play on a CF commercial about two years ago....it rocked....best DDR pad ever, only thing that gives it a run for its money is a well maintained or new arcade pad (and that might beat the CF).

You know, I am amazed at how bad CF's customer service is. 2 months ago I ordered an arcade mod for my pad. It took over a month for the arcade kit to ship and when it arrived, it was missing pieces and one of the panels was misdrilled.

I fired off an email to CF and waited 2 WEEKS for a response before finally get an email from Tereasa apologizing profusely and telling me that she personally would take care of my situation. Well, here I am, 2 weeks later again, no parts, no emails, nothing.

In the meantime I bought another Flux from a CF employee off Ebay that I'd like to get an arcade kit for as well but after the 2 month ongoing fiasco for the first kit, Im scared to order another.

If they are this busy, they need to hire some help. How hard is it to at least answer an email and let customers know what's going on? Maybe it's just me but when you drop almost $600.00 with a company, I dont think it's expecting too much for a little customer support.

Odd. Customer service and whatnot was quite spiffy with both my mother and I. Hell, they even shipped the pad a few days early because she told them it was a birthday present for me. I had to put the arcade mod on myself as a result, but who cares about that? That took me a whole 20 minutes.

I'm surprised the commercial pads have existed for so long, and just now they are selling them.

When you buy a cobalt flux, they will put on the arcade mod for you?

What's an arcade mod?

These things look really nice and I've heard a lot of great stuff about them, but if I'm going to get a metal pad, I would really like it to have a bar, and it seems like all the pads with bars are not great. E2.gif

Apparently, they do install the arcade mod for you. But at the same time, you're getting aced out of four lexan panels, so if you want them for one reason or another, specify that you want a "reverse modkit." Asking for that will have them include the four lexan panels that are removed to make room for the arcade mod.

Alright guys, I've got a question...

I'm in a debate about either getting the CF w/ the arcade mod or the Blueshark w/ a bar. The CF has great durability (from what I have heard) and sensitivity, but the blueshark has the bar and an arcade-like sensor setup. For playing w/ my PS2 setup, I don't need the Blueshark's bar, because I already have one (the foot board for my bed), but for my StepMania setup (w/ arcade judgement) I do, so the Blueshark would come in handy. When bringing my setup, the Blueshark has the bar, but from what I hear it is very heavy (but does the bar come off?). If I get the CF, I don't know if I have the time and effort to make a bar for it, so this is my plan.

If I get the CF, I might order a Blueshark bar and attach it to my CF in a way that is removable. If I am told this cannot work, what should I use to make a bar (that is removable of course)?

If I get the Blueshark, how long is it's projected lifespan, and what should I do to make moving it around easier?

Thanks in advance! biggrin.gif

Here's a link from www.cobaltflux.com . It describes well what the arcade mod is.

Has the Cobalt Flux forum been down recently for anyone else? I've been trying to look at it to see what people there have to say before I go off and buy a doubles pack, but the forum keeps giving me a PHPBB/SQL error code and nothing else.

Also... I know I'm not the only person wondering, but has MS come up with supplies for CF to start building their multi-platform cboxes? What's with the announcement that they're working on a slightly more expensive V3.0 CF pad from back in December 05? Anyone have news on either of these? I'm not planning on spending $700 or so on a couple of dance pads that'll last me a couple years when I could spend a little more and get a pair that'll be significantly more durable.

PS Wow, my last login to this forum was in Feb 05. Holy crap.

So the purpose would be to make the arrows recessed like in the arcade?

I tried unscrewing the screws and then screwing them in again, just not as tight, but the panels are still bowed up and it is annoying.

I have a flux with the clear arcade mod. It's as close to the arcade as I've found. Well worth the money.

Even before the forums went down, there was no updated word on the status of the new cboxes or the V3.0 pads. Having followed the Xbox cbox fiasco from the release of Ultramix nearly two years ago, I'm inclined to think that I'll not see Xbox compatibility from CF in my lifetime.
