Well here is a more direct link to the three different commercial platforms.
http://www.cobaltflux.com/commercial/platforms.html
Enjoy looking at them. It is amazing that they have warranties of 1, 2 and 4 years!

well, i think i might order up a cobalt flux in a few months, and i have a few questions.
1. When I choose arcade mod, it says smooth and metal or black and textured. Which one would you reccomend?
2. Is the year warrenty worth it? I hear these things are super durable, so I don't wannt spend $30 extra for nothing.
3. Is their customer service good and will they ship me a new or fixed dance pad back if i return it(i.e, unlike redoctane)
Please help me! I really would like to know if its worth it! |

Maybe you should hold off on buying a cobalt flux until they put out a xbox/usb version. It's apparently coming out soon (according to the cobaltflux forums), but who knows.
Regarding your questions, sorry I don't know. |

1. Black and textured, and ask for a black center panel
2. No, it's really not
3. Well if it's still under warranty _________________

I've heard before that pretty much the only way you can damage Cobalt Fluxes is by playing them on carpeted floors. Unfortunately, the only rooms which I can set up Stepmania are covered by very thick, soft carpet close to an inch thick. However, I'm pretty light - only 130lb or so. Should I still look into mods to protect my Cobalt Flux, or will it be allright anyways because of my weight? |

They've been saying that an Xbox c-box for the Flux is due out soon for the past 2 years. I'll believe it when I see one.
And for J-Pop:
1. I got the clear and it looks great. Removed the corner decals so it's just the 4 main arrows on the pad. Looks just like the arcade. I think the black looks kind of janky.
2. No
3. If it's under warranty, they'll ship you a new one (RO will do it too). |

Yeah, you have a good point Norkusa. The hopes of a xbox/usb cobalt flux are fading because the company recently introduced a line of school/commercial pads. With their focus on those, they may have put the xbox/usb pads on hold. |

Think about it. You're constantly jumping up and down on a thick wooden platform. Doing this on an uneven surface like carpet will eventually put enough stress on it to crack. I put 2 huge cracks on the bottom of my CF after playing for only a couple months on carpet with it.
You'll need to make a base mod for your CF if you plan on playing on any kind of soft carpet with it. |

Could you give me some more info on this specific kind of mod? A link...etc. I just recently bought a CF and the only place I can play it is on soft carpet. |

I've had my CFs for over 2 years now, with no problems... And I've always played on pretty soft carpet. (I also happen to weigh much more than 130lbs.) I think you'll be ok... They are pretty much indestructible... I haven't had to do anything to mine (no cleaning, no maintenance) and they still work as well as the day I got them... |

I'd still mod it just to be safe. I mean, it's really not that hard of a mod _________________

I would really appreciate some kind of link that tells you how to perform the soft carpet mod. |

Here's the mod I did. If you are going to make it like this though, I'd suggest you put a very thin layer of padding in between the base and bordering furring strips. Mine makes a lot of creaking sounds when using it, so the padding in between there would muffle it. Paint is entirely optional but I think it makes it look a lot shaper:

So I've decided I'm going to buy the Cobalt Flux because my red octane ignition pad didn't last even one week (I don't know if Gamestop just sold me a bad one or what...). So what's the latest version of this Cobalt Flux? How long is it gonna last? I'm already aware of the fact this baby is not cheap...
