It may be annoying, but nobody's going to make a rule against it. It's not a matter of critical importance. If people want to make themselves look unintelligent, they should be free to do so.

Hmm...makes sence. But GOD its annoying. I made a rule against it on my boards. Having that rule in effect makes me happy  |

You don't speak English on a forums. There's no voice feature that I'm aware of on these forums.
Hehe, it's okay, really. People are just lazy. As long as you can still comprehend what they're trying to get across, that's alright, is it not?

I don't think they really believe "u" is a word, but they know if they type "u" that you know what they are talking about. Regardless if it annoys someone or not, that's the way they are typing their response.

Using internet abbreviations is just as bad as misspelling a word. Do you actually expect mods to hand out warning points for spelling errors.

That's hilarious because CWK loves to go around correcting everyone's spelling and grammar. In fact, ever since I showed him this (which I came across with Google), he's gone out of his way to prove to everyone that he's not an "AOL geek". I think this thread is just another instance of that - I doubt he really ever believed that there was a chance of DDRFreak outlawing Internet-speak.

Right, from now on I want only English English to be used on this forum. Henceforth, the letter 'u' will be placed back into the words from whence they came, such as 'colour'. Also, the 'i' will be written in 'Aluminium'.
Anyone who doesn't follow these rules should be banned...

I'm still trying to find out who made that...
And I'm suprised that I was put there instead of some guy I saw on some other boards (or someone who was like him...). He said that if the people there didn't stop deleting his threads, he'd call AOL and they'd delete the boards and then go to the admin's houses and take their AOL away (they didn't use AOL). He also threatened to call the FBI. It was funny. |

(1) You don't begin a sentence with "And".
(2) "AOL" is a singular noun, and so the colloquial contraction "they'd" should be "it would". A better suggestion would be to add the words "some staff members of" before "AOL", because the pronoun would then be correct.
(3) As there is only one "admin" mentioned, and assuming it is the "admin" and not the "houses" of the admin that owns the "AOL", ony HIS or HER AOL can be taken away, since "admin" is a singular noun.
(4) Since houses do not use AOL, and since people such as the aforementioned "admin" use AOL, then you should have said "(he or she didn't use AOL)".
English, MFer. Do you speak it? Do not criticize people's spelling or grammatical mistakes unless your usage of the English language is perfect. Change your location to "glass house", please.
