- Broadbanded
- Heavenly Sun
- Gandeymede
For the love of the controller, more Yamaoka and L.E.D. and insert popular artist here.
And light colors for the UI. My eyes strained on purple; the plague of wearing glasses.
- More songs. Make it like DDR-sized.
- More Moby. Believe it or not, his songs will actually work. Take Go [Ampthemix (sp) mix]. Or UHF 2. If there are more liscences, get stuff by Paul Oakenfold, DJ Tiesto, Van Dyk...
I don't think there should be a music preview. I was surprised at some of the songs I picked out.
- Unlockables. We need incentives. Maybe a song for every 10 played. Or a la Extreme 2 where you get points and you can buy songs.
- Metronome and a tick mark for Training mode.
And for the absolute wish:
- The Dirty of Loudness. If it is on there, then it has to be the ultimate song to unlock.
...huh, it's about a month away from E3. If BMUS is successful, will they announce it then? _________________

No. It NEEDS American/pop-culture stuff. That's what will make it sell to the casual gamer. They can't just appeal to us hardcore players. We're only a small niche.

What would YOU call it and explain it as to the casual gamer? It makes the most sense. You cannot call DDR a dancing simulator either. It's the same thing with Beatmania.
Therefore, stfu. (: _________________

That and not every 'hard core' player likes all the techno, euro, J pop crap that. Please, give me some American-ish songs if you're going to fill me up with techno classical. Just because its American, doesn't mean it sucks any more than it being Japanese makes it cool.
You know, as I recall, beatmania USED to have a good hip hop influence. The game is still good, but on alot of these 'wishlists' I see tooooooooo much Euro-Trance-J Pop- etc etc. Yuck. But a good music game has a balance across all grounds without trying to limit it's focus on too much of the same type of stuff.
This release of BM is a mixed soundtrack though, it's still lacking. It seems as if its filled with alot of B-List songs and I think a lof of players would not notice the weaker song selections if there were more songs all together. Especially, if they were more recent. Though none of us should truely expected anything more recent than 10th Style CS songs and if you did, too bad. If there were 30 more IIDX songs and 30 more beatmania songs, I everybody would have at least 3-5 songs they liked on this mix. And come on Konami, it's a DVD, use that space. It's not going to hurt to put a KO song thats from 2nd Style or 3rd Style any more than it would to put more 8th and 9th KOs.
Though for me, a IIDX style fiilled with nothing but Sota, Shoichiro and good-cool, could make me very happy.
On with the list with songs that I've not seen on many other lists in this thread:
Headache
Let's Talk It Over
Make Your Move
Schlagwerk
Leading Cyber
DXY!
Ultra High-Heels
Under Construction
Giri Giri Daddy
Checking You Out
Come With Me
Give Me A sign
Kiss Me All Night Long
19, November
Free Style
Dive Into Your Heart
Romeo & Juliet
Real Love
ParaPara Paradise
Buffalo
Just Do It
Beautiful Days
Last Message
Ave De Rapina
Marmalade Reverie
E. V Cafe
Somebody Like You
Spooky
More Deep
Bad Routine
Celebrate Nite
xenon
Stick Around
Luv 2 Feel Your Body
Midsummer Dreams Midsummer Flowers
The Biggest Roaster
Honey
Rislim Remix
Festa Do Sol
I'll stop right there because I've not played or listened to enough music from styles beyond 9th to put them on the list.
And what a great (cheap) way for Konami to add to the library by simply adding some currently exclusive-to-DDR songs to beatmania?
Kind Lady
Can Be Real
Scorching Moon
Maximizer
Super Star (from non-stop megamix)
Love This Feeling (from non-stop megamix)
Hysteria (from non-stop megamix)
Dance Dance Revolution
And as already been said, some unlocks, Music Clip Mode, Gallery Mode, EX Score, song sorting, Kyu mode or whatever that learning mode was from 6th and even an Information Mode would be cool. Oh, and no garish colored UIs. |

You are right about 7-Key but 5-Key DID have alternate difficulties. For the US version, they just used the hardest chart each song had instead of different difficulties/the easiest charts. _________________

Cross-post, just 'cause I don't know where you crazy Konami reps lurk anymore.
Most of what I have to say has already been said, but just for the record...
First, I'd like to say how much I enjoy this game as the first beatmania game I own. I'm having a blast, and I try to be harsh in these comments since I'd love to see an even better game next year. beatmania was a fantastic buy. I need to make that very clear how much I love it.
The main menu music is so horribly irritating. Who decided on this? Everyone I've shown beatmania too has commented on the main menu music being awful.
Interface could be more refined, and the IIDX crew obviously knows how to make a nice interface.
Exclusive songs were awesome; the effort put into the videos was very nice, and shows that US beatmania is worth toiling over. Whoever picked the licenses did a wonderful job; I can't express how much I love The Way You Move and the other stuff. A friend bought this game just because of Virtual Insanity and Lift Me Up. However, if we're going to throw in exclusive songs, let's also put the effort into them to crank out a chart for all difficulties. Don't think people will find it odd once they unlock Another that the exclusives don't have these charts? Since my friends sure did. You know, the classic "Wow, that song was awesome on Beginner! I wonder how insane it is on the hardest setting!" It's something to work towards when that song you love so much in Beginner is also something that pushes you to become a much better player.
Having to wander through Game Mode to unlock Free Mode was idiotic. For beginners, getting all the Final Stage songs is a tedious uphill battle, and there's no point to playing Game Mode once you have Free Mode, since not only can you save replays in Free Mode, but you don't get kicked out every 5 minutes and waste time not having fun. The Credits option on the main menu is a good idea, thereby eliminating any and all need for Game Mode, because it's just not fun.
Themed Expert courses are cool. Let's try for some next time.
If we're going to have 5key songs, flesh them out. Either include all difficulties for them, or don't include the mode at all. It's wonderful for beginners, sure, but its appeal starts to fade as you get into the 5-7 star territory and there's nothing to really easy you into it. I could pass BATTLE BREAKS on my first day. I also passed Tribe Groove on my first day. However, it's going to take a while to get any of the 7's down, since there's not much selection in the upper range of 5key for me to practice with. I'm working on 7key now because there's currently a lot of 4 star songs to work on that are perfect for my level. But I don't think I'll be passing any new 5key songs for a while.
Don't be afraid to throw in some new KO's either. One of the best parts of new DDR's is seeing stuff like INSIDE YOUR HEART and PASSION OF LOVE randomly pop up. New stuff is always greatly appreciated. On that note, there was a tragic lack of NAOKI in beatmania.
EX score tracking would be nice, if only because it makes it easier to tell when a score is worth updating on VJ Army.
un deux trois
And that's about it! _________________

I'm sure the Konami Originals will be fine but there is only one licensed song I want in the next game:

By hardest charts for 5-Keys, you mean hardest charts that are NOT Anothers, right? _________________

Ah, yes I know. The person I quoted was talking about the US one and said that 7key had only 1 difficulty and I was just clarifying what was on US. |

Actually, I'm not so sure if it's true that they used the hardest (non-Another) charts for each 5Key song. OVERBLAST!! should have a three star chart with 215 notes, according to beatmania 5th Mix Append CS, but it has only a one star chart with 99 notes in beatmania US. Where'd that chart come from? _________________

I liked how there was variety. I also liked how it was basically like getting two games in one. _________________

I actually thought it was kind of cool to have it--though they need multiple skill levels on 5key. Also just because the japanese version doesn't have another chart or whatever (insert skill level here) doesn't mean that one can't be made...stop being lazy Konami. _________________

I'd say keep 5-key, add more songs. I didn't mind the interface, but it could easily be better. If anything is gonna wind up repeated (not to say I'm hoping for repeats), I'd say go with Battle Breaks, simply because it's really fun.
But yeah, I ran out of songs really quick. Loved Funkytown and Celebration, but somehow managed to play them out in three days.
I love the song videos. Seems like more attention is paid to them here then on DDR, which is a shame, because DDR has so much more room on the screen to show off those really cool videos. _________________

We need different difficulties for 5-key! (I found out that there IS in 7-key). Also unlockables (b-duh) like songs, art galleries, & a theater. Anyways...
My continued songlist request:
Sana Morette Ne Ente (either mix) (COME ON! It's ABOUT Beatmania!)
Drop Out (K.O.G Mix) (1/16 notes, anyone?)
Can't Stop Fallin' In Love (Speed Mix)
Daikenkai
More Paranoias
Wonderland
Rhythm & Police
More DJ Taka songs
The Earth Light (Which I'll bet it'll be the editted version...)
Gradiusic Cyber
Patsenner
S.O.S (This is a DIFFERENT SONG than the one I said earlier)
Love Again Tonight
The Whistle Song (I wish!)
Prince on a Star
Say, is The Dirty of Loudness like one of the more popular BM songs? |
