I'm currently debating about which style I should get.
The last ones I had were 3rd and 6th, but now i'm wanting either 9th or 10th.
Which one would you guys consider better?
Is there a song list for these two? (I've tried looking at the Konami site...but uh, the translations are a bit harder than regular Engrish) |
10th style is the better choice in my opinion.
Better music (almost every new song is great imo), better variety of music styles and genres, and better looking interface. 10th styles soundtrack is pretty much tied with 12th style as my favorite IIDX soundtrack so far. |

Well, I guess i'm going to be getting 10th style.
A few people I know IRL told me it looks very nice, interface is clean and has good songs.
By the way, a noob question, but what does the "CS" mean after saying a style?
I see posts like
"Beatmania IIDX 5th Style CS" or something like that...sorry for noob question |

"Consumer Software". It's just another way of saying "Home Version". _________________

It has six "1" difficulty songs on Beginner and only one on Light7 (5.1.1.).
As for level "2" songs - 10th Style has twelve "2"s on Beginner and five on Light7.
If you're looking for good beginner-friendly styles: 6th Style and 5th Style are your best bet. They have very good, familiar songlists and both have a very nice Beginners Mode.
I dunno about 5th, but every song on 6th Style is playable on Beginner. (I started on 6th and then moved to 10th). _________________

Never played IIDX but want to. Say I got the US version that's out in March and wanted more after I got good at it. I'm going to mod my PS2, flip top. I'll have the US KOC controller or w/e. Whats the best JP version? The front page doesn't say anything about the newer ones, and I believe its up to 10. Also, why aren't they greatest hits or something, like Pop'n? |

If someone who's never seen what Beatmania looks like, simply use google video and search for beatmania.
You can see a number of videos there and, although most videos don't really show the mechanics of playing the game (as in press this button when this note reaches the bottom) they give a good idea of how the game is played. _________________

Anyway, I 9th style is alright- the songs are kind of boring though. |

3rd's a good one to begin on. It doesn't have a Beginner mode, but the Light 7s on it are really easy.
Too bad it's incredibly rare, now. Maybe you can get someone to burn a copy for you.
Also, Beatmania US looks like it has a relatively easy songlist if you want to wait for a few weeks. _________________

I learned on 6th Style, so maybe try that out. Alot of good L7 songs to get your fingers use to the game. _________________

You hold the VEFX button while selecting the song and chose the song. _________________

I say 2 hands...and I've been playing for about a week. I'm even starting to use my thumbs.
Anyway, I'm considering importing since I got the controller with BMUS (getting easier by the day and 2 hours playing - well - drilling). Where did you guys get your fliptop from? I wanna get it at the cheapest place possible but with reliable shipping.
I've kept reading that 9th Style is meh, but it's the cheapest Style I can find. I wanna get it before it runs out of stock. 39 bucks is quite the steal.
If money permits, probably after graduation, I'll have 10th and maybe even Red. I know I'm a starting noob but I want to expand the songs that I'll be able to play, along with recognizing *wicked* patterns.
EDIT: After looking at the songlist of 9th Style then 10th, not to mention difficulty, I'm gonna go with 10th. It's all shiny... _________________
