I managed to procure a copy for myself yesterday when I don't even have a PS2 with me to play it on. The controller feels amazing though. I've played on 2 people's modded KOCs and the buttons on mine still feel better. I'd heard about the stiff turntable so I just gave it a whole lot of practice spins, and now it feels just like anyone else's does. _________________

Meh, the only thing that really irks me about this mix is the splitting of the songs for 5-key and 7-key and that their's no unlocks and a lot of the songs really suck, like they're not songs you would DJ, or dance to at a club like Konami tries to advertise (Manmachine plays JAZZ, Hitch Hiker, Love So Groovy, etc.). Their should've been a couple other newer songs or at least more recognizable DDR songs, like B4U, Still in my Heart, etc.
I guess I wouldn't be complaining about the songs so much if I hadn't played 7th style CS before, but I have. This game does accomplish its mission of bringing beatmania to the US but they could've made it a little better, did the songlist literally have to stop at 50 songs?
Anyway, my progress thus far I have passed and AA'd almost every song on Beginner, and most of the Normal songs, but what the hell is up with Bad Boy Bass, that song owns me on beginner!! _________________

Yes! I love my controller. My TT is awesome right now, as it isn't loose anymore. :> _________________

My little Beatmania space...
I was wondering if playing "against myself" in Battle mode might get me a little more prepared for 14-key mode. |

Outer Limits is not a 1* at all. It's like a 2 or 3*.
BBB! is actually easy, but towards the end is where I keep failing. I even had a decent combo and failed at 78%.
But, I've managed to clear all of the 1*, and most of 2* songs. 3*...well, they require a bit more work. And this is like from 3 days of playing on Beginner but hey, I can do some Normal songs about about 4 hypers.
If they are working on another mix:
- New interface. Purple is fugly on the eyes. Maybe Blue
- More songs. Like 20 more and some unlocks. Perhaps from newer styles.
- Instead of splitting the songlist, mash 'em together and have a 5key mod for songs that do have a notechart.
- Make sure the notes are on-sync. *glares at e-motion*
- Make the Tutorial a little more in-depth. Like arpeggios and triplets. Ooh, scratch and four keys.
- More L.E.D.
'sabout it. The controller is wonderful, though I'm kinda scared to smash the living crap out of it when I do a hard song. _________________

Re: Outer Limits
If I recall correctly, I yelled out "It's a @#$@#$ing ONE!!!" at the screen as the challenge-mode failure screen came crashing down.
What is an arpeggios? |

Basically it's a chord from the lowest to the highest pitch. Bad Boy Bass and V have these in them. I think Giudecca has some as well, but I'm not sure that they're arpeggi and not glissandi.

I'm pretty sure it's like playing chords that gradually go up or down. _________________

Have any of you noticed Genom Screams? It's longer in IIDX mode than in 5-key mode. _________________

Ha, I was walking around Best Buy yesterday with my friend after a few rounds of DDR in the mall's arcade and I saw they had beatmania for sale. I was so mad at myself because I didn't bring any major cash with me to buy it. So I came out today and picked up a copy for 60 bucks + tax + a 1 year warranty thing.
I must say this game is funnnnn. But I can't do anything higher than a 2 right now, haha. I don't like 5 key mode too much, I always want to hit the extra keys that you don't use.
The song list is alright (<3 Funkytown), but I really wanted to see some newer songs like Red Zone and Jelly Kiss (smack remix) (at lease I think they're from IIDX)
Gonna go play it some more in a little bit . I am very pleased with my purchase. _________________

Finally I can post...anywho
I have yet to buy beatmania. I plan on buying asap. I was very excited when this game was announced because I can only play the game when I go to this japanese toy store where I live (which isnt very often since im in college). I have never played IIDX so this should be an interesting experience for me.
Ive heard alot of press about the 'terrible' songlist, so that kind of worries me about the game, but I still think Ill enjoy it. Alot of the 5-Key songs I like, and Im sure ill enjoy the game a bunch.
I hope Konami does continue with this series, because its pretty hard to find in arcades now. _________________

E-Motion is WRONG...it honestly is wrong..it has gambol disease (where for some reason, the "Perfect" window is shrunken, the Great window hardly exists, and so you basically get goods or Perfects)..there's a reason only a couple people have AAAed E-motion on 7k even though it seems easy as fuck compared to songs with more AAAs. Konami has always been notoriously bad for misjudging their beginner songs on iidx..and misjudging songs in general. I'm pretty disappointed that the US song charts are about as inspired as a lump of clay :/ _________________

Playing against yourself in Battle mode is exactly the same as playing double, actually. The double charts are just the Battle mode charts! _________________
