Then there would be no challenge to playing the songs. I have seen some videos of two guys playing doubles songs, but the idea is that one person actually play the songs. Obviously you guys have not seen a lot of the 41+ songs on pop'n. I swear that you need two more arms to play that crap.
I will admit that doubles on IIDX is some crazy sh!t!!!! But I was disgusted by seeing classic 8 EX,Screen EX,Cowboy EX. Just simply disgusted!!!!

You might as well play stepmania on the keyboard and save some money. Now i know alot of you love this game out there and i don't mean to be so harsh on the game and you players out there but someone seriously explain to me what makes this such a populair game to everyone? I just don't see how pressing buttons and turning a record is fun. thanks |
everything makes Beatmania/IIDX great. it has a huge fan base and alot of people play it. its nothing like stepmania as you some what put it. why dont you try it first not just trash it. Its actually quite hard when your a noob and you dont pick it up first thing. why do you try it. _________________

It's considered "Doubles" play for a reason, so yes - it is technically forbidden to use a second person on 14k songs, since that's cheating.
Also, IIDX isn't like DDR in the Singles vs 2 Players/Doubles department. In DDR - the Versus charts are the exact same as the Single player chart, since you're dancing. They change the Doubles since one person is playing it.
However in IIDX, when you play Versus in IIDX, it has to split the keysounds up between two people, since two people playing the EXACT same chart would sound like ass. So, one player usually gets most of the bassline/harmony and the other gets the melody. And from time to time, it'll switch sides.
Well, in Doubles, the versus chart stays the exact same - but the screen is set up where one person stands centered against the machine and plays both sides of the versus chart. _________________

I've never played Battle Mode, so I apologize. I've only played Versus and Doubles (with 2P Auto On...since I don't have two KOCs)
Battle Mode with Auto On kinda makes Battle Mode...pointless. _________________

CORRECT. |
Fixed
IIDX doubles might be harder but IIDX singles is definitely easier than Popn. Not by much but it is easier. _________________

I wish I can play with seven keys, but it's too hard for me, so until I get IIDX 9th (that's the one the cool kids like, right?) at home, I'll stick with 5-key.
IIDX's music is so-so, some of it I really like, but others don't sound very good. Like, after playing BM III, I'm afraid to try new songs since a lot of BM songs were techno. It's not so much as the techno, it's just that most of the music sounds like something you would rave to. (I saw that in a review and I totally agreed) But they have some awesome music that I like. Like Murmur Twins, Love is Orange, and Abyss The Heavens Mix
Pop'n Music is seriously my favorite bemani game. I love everything about it, Like how each pair of buttons have their own colors so I don't get confused, or how I can choose a char for my av to show my personality. The music is really good, too. They have a little bit of everything. Like Energy Rock, 100 sec kitchen battle, bemani crossovers, JAZZ, some orchestra/symphony music (I'm thinking of Princess Piccolo)
I like IIDX/BM, but it just feels like Pop'n has more life and feeling. IIDX feels kinda on the bland side. The kinda thing hardcore players would like, the game with no distractions.
But I'll take distractions any day. _________________

No 10th style is the one everyone likes. One of the few IIDX soundtracks I can truely listen to all the way through and enjoy every song. I would DEFINITELY get 10th over 9th. After 10th I think the best IIDX style is 7th _________________

They really got a poor reviewer to review the game...As I have said before, they really need two reviewers for games.
One review should be by someone who doesn't know much of the series
The other reviewer should be someone who is a fan of the game.
That way, casual gamers can get better insight on things from more than opinions of one person, and the dedicated fans can get information on the tracklist, how it plays compared to other BeatManias, Etc.
Even if the game does suck, I'll just import the IIDX games from Japan now that I have a controller that isn't 80 dollars, and is compatible. |

Oh god.. that IGN review was horrible! That person complained about the most lame things.
They said that the songs were horrible? I bet he just wasn't playing the songs right and hitting the keys like a monkey or something.
They kept on calling the controller a "pad." This really pissed me off.
They complained about notes not going to the song? Of course they go to the song... THEY MAKE THE SONG. God.. I have a feeling this person had no idea what they were doing.
I'm dissapointed IGN.
I read the Game Informer review and I agreed with that more. They only really lowered the score because the game was hard. Oh well suck it up. |

It's really not so much about what IGN thinks, but many casual gamers use IGN as a guide. If the game scores low there, it will probably not sell as well, at least initially. Not that it's a big deal. I think that BM will be one of the games that spreads out by word of mouth more so than anything else. Like Guitar Hero. You could only get that game at a video game store. Now I see it stocked at Best Buy and Wal Mart. The same thing could happen to BM.
I don't think the track list is sooooo bad as IGN would make one to belive. They say it's bad but don't really explain why. There is a good mixture of songs from the list I read at Bemanistyle. But Konami did the same thing here that they did with DDR, they used a lot of the old songs when they had access to alot of newer songs. Then the old songs that I saw really were not the best of the old Konami Originals. Though, by the time the game gets to it's next US style, they will have more recent stuff. With a library of KOs that is as large as IIDX's, bringing those songs here to the US, officially for the first time, it's really going to be hard to satisfy everybody.
I can't wait to see what the EB drones will say when I pick my copy up today. I mean, if it's not DDR on PS2, it's nothing to them. |

I pretty much agree with Larrikin on this 9th's Songlist is pretty crappy compare to 10th. Best song list IMHO is 4th style. But my favorite would be 7th. _________________
