The main problem I see with the pad is "how will 'it' know if you took your foot off the arrow?".
Since the light is vertically oriented, you'd have to return to the center every time you took a step.

a very original idea, but i don't understand how the lasers will work...wouldn't it be easy to interfere with the sensors?

Thanks for the responeses everyone!

First off, this is a brand new concept and NOT the same as the other pads that have been attempted.

We have a team of Engineers working on our proto-type right now. ETA for completion is the first week of April.

I will be able to address questions by email at [email protected]

For those who haven't taken a survey, please help us out by taking one.
Thanks!!!

Man, Ive never thought of a pad like that...I dont know...I think id feel like an idiot danceing on it though. Cool Idea though. Could it project 2 pads for doubles/ versus? biggrin.gif

And scythe33 has a good point. If you'd have to go back to the middle, i would NEVER buy it

There was a arcade dancing game that already did this, IIRC.

It's called "EZ2Dancer". It uses laser sensors to judge your movement. However, I don't know if it worked the same way DDR did.

I am worried though, that this DDR "Light Pad" will end up like the Para Para Paradise controller, i.e. - you break the light beam and the sensor sets off (for as long as you break the beam). Also - how will you be able to hold freeze arrows? And how will it differentiate between a freeze and a normal step?

Most DDR players don't (and on anything past Light, you can't) return to the center panel when playing.

My thing is the ability to feel the pad,if it's light based, then I may drift off of it during gameplay. That's the problem with cheap pads.Imagine payng hundreds of dollars for this and not being able to feel your way around it.
