QFT. I love Wildwood. So much. So much.
That, and last summer they had a ridiculous amount of ITG2 dedicabs. I spent half the time there going from one to the other with massive amounts of dirty Jerz boardwalk food in between.

Gender differences != girliness. I care about how I look when I play. From what people tell me, most of the time, they look at me, see what I'm wearing, and expect me to be the last person to be starring and doublestarring ITG Expert songs, because I'll walk into an arcade in a mall looking more like a spectator, carrying bags of trendy clothes, done up in makeup, and wearing something nice. I'm just as geeky and dorky as everyone else on the inside, but I do care about how I look in terms of hair, makeup, and clothes. This doesn't mean I'll avoid 10's so I won't sweat, because I personally enjoy exerting myself. Hell, I even play BETTER in a miniskirt, because I have nice leg ventilation and more mobility when I'm not wearing pants. They're so restrictive.
Why should I have to pick between girliness and competitiveness? I like to think that when I AAA or SDG a song, I look better doing it than the average person. I find it satisfying when people take me lightly just because of my appearance and so I wholly exploit that and embarrass them. I think it stems from four years of me trying to pick songs like Can't Stop Falling in Love Speed Mix and guys coming up to me and saying, "Oh hey, do you know that you set it to Maniac? It must've been an accident, if you're starting up you should play it on Basic. It's so hard on all the levels... my personal recommendation is Butterfly, you should have no problem with that." Because people have told me I would never be capable of playing songs, I have both 2 on Tears and am 1 away from SDGing Cartoon Heroes. When people tell me I can't do something because I'm a girl, I go crazy. And at the same time, I wear cute things.
I can both AA Max 300 and layer eyeshadow correctly. I think I've got the best of both worlds, don't you? |

I guess I should have gone into more detail. I'm not saying gender differences = girliness. I'm talking about those who go "Oooh, but you get all sweaty," and/or "It's a 'boy's' thing." and thus, "I'm not doing it. Plus I'll never succeed at it." I'm talking about those girls. They've never said it in so many words but their actions just scream it. And they look down at those who do do it. They're the ones who enforce it. And it pisses me off because it makes it a little harder for girls who does the 'boy' stuff or 'sweaty' stuff be taken as seriously.
If girls are concerned about looks, that's great. But don't be sooooo concerned that anything that involves sweat deters you from it. That annoys me.
But you're right. There is one advantage to this... You can show up all the guys! But still, I hate that condescending tone from them. _________________

I play sometimes at Willowbrook Mall. I don't know if it's because of the sheer lack of light in there, but I haven't seen ANYONE "hot" there in a while.
Uh yeah, to the poster before that lived near Philly (!!!! I love Philly)...yeah, you haven't seen us before, have you? There are new breeds of ugly spawning here, I swear. I'm not even trying to be funny.
*cough* I'm not ugly though. _________________

Yeah, I go in wearing usualy black stretchy jeans and a band shirt.
I look like the sort of person to play, but not be good.
I have yet to *** a song yet though. :c
My closest was DJ Party double hard sightread.
98.7 I believe. >:c
And why don't you come to Neshaminy Mall sometime?
I'm sure I'll be there, it's my second home. ;p

I love your ITG2 cabinet there, save the fact that it's still score bugged. I was just there maybe three Fridays or so ago? Maybe four. It takes me less than an hour to get there, 287 to something to 46 or something like that.
Some Fridays, some of my girlfriends go there. They're all incredibly good ITG2 players, but most of the time they don't play too often because there are crowds and crowds of teen mallrats everywhere.

Holy shit, nerds. I road trip to North Jersey even if it's an hour plus all the time but I never thought of ever going to PA because there doesn't really seem like much of a scene in the Philly area.
According to Mapquest, the arcade you play at is 54 minutes and 38 miles away from my house. Probably less than that through backroads. How bout that, eh.
Maybe Monday. It's looking real good; don't get the 3-day weekend, but maybe I'll head over there in the late afternoon. |

So, Julie Q, you play in a miniskirt..... I've always wanted to see that. Not because I'm a guy and want a shot at a visual at the unmentionables, but I've never seen someone play DDR in a short skirt. Long skirt, once. Bikini, once (SERIOUSLY).
But in all truth, I have learned the hard way that a person's inside plumbing and their DDR skill are not relative. Actually, most of those that currently play at my skill level are actually female. So, if I want an even competition, I can't make a gender difference.
This is the first case that I've heard of someone trying to look good when they play. And yes, you have the best of both worlds. Have guys ever tried to ask you on a date in the mall just because you can play this game well and look good while doing it? |

I'll head over there with a few Doubleshots after my long day of class, so expect me there around 4:30 to 5ish. It should be a grand ol' time.
I'll play battle mode. I can read most mods pretty well, save stuff like Flip.

I kind of started playing in skirts because anyone who knows me in real life knows that I love wearing them, especially miniskirts. Hell, I even bought legwarmers for my boots so I could wear them in the wintertime. Skirts of any length are just more comfortable for me, and I pull my skirt down half as much as I pull a pair of pants up when I'm playing.
A lot of it has to do with the fact that many of my trips to arcades are unplanned and spur of the moment, usually because of changes of plans or me just being in the area. One of my last AAA's was Last Message, and I had just gone shopping in downtown Boston with my best friend, wearing a miniskirt, (semi-light) snow boots, and legwarmers. Since I had to go to work at a certain time, we went to the MIT arcade so she could meet up with some of my friends who were already there, since it was relatively close to where I worked by public transportation. We got there with time to spare and I randomly had two quarters, so I played a set in my snow boots, legwarmers, and skirt, and randomly AAAed Last Message on Extra Stage. I just get adjusted to what I'm wearing cause most of the time I'm never prepared.

Not at a mall, but I get hit on a lot at arcades by the people bold enough to try and I get befriended quite easily by guys because I'm simply more comfortable in hanging out with them, since any girl who plays DDR/ITG competitively at a similar level that I do doesn't really frequent where I play often enough for me to bond with any of them.

Playing in miniskirts isn't too difficult, though I haven't done it in a while, mainly because I'm not playing DDR as much, and it's cold around here.
Thanks to this thread, I'm motivated to start getting better at ITG. Curse the lack of machines here. _________________
