Yes, actually. Rodent and I started communicating through PMs. He's going to give me a RC of the PCK packer. He has been packing up songpacks to the PCK format, and he will be uploading them soon. Once I get my RC, I'm going to pack up ITG2 simfiles. The public version of the PCK packer will be availible soon.

Hehe. I can't wait until it's done. ITG will be so much more fun. Brag to my friends about my hacked ITG. BTW, do you think it's possible to take StepMania's Editor and throw it in over Training mode? That'd be awesome to finally have your own steps for the songs (my nearest ITG2 is about a 45 min drive away. That's far when you have to walk there because you can't drive).

It might be possible. Maybe mess with the metrics of the skin?

Since training mode looks much like edit mode, maybe you'd just need to remap a few buttons to give it editing capabilities?

He "changed the file structure for much better loading times"?

So, wait, a kid with a hex editor poking around on a pressed disc's image can manage what roxor with the time, experience and source code couldn't?

I think he just reorganized the .PCK files. I don't have any idea of how to do this. The packer would allow the files on the disc to be organized in any way, including put everything in one big file (although, I'm sure that would cause even worse loading times).

It seems this whole "better loading times" story was a big misunderstanding from my side,
as i misinterpreted this big time.

Loading Times within added simfiles are better due to smaller filesize of .ogg and no BG Movie loaded.

Sorry, i don't know where i picked up this thing with reorganizing file structure.

Status:
Adding files works 100%,
we have problems at the moment with "Simfiles only" (no original ITG songfiles)

We hope to get this issue wiped out soon.

Kalek might be able to nail down this bug,
as he will now get the toolset in the next few hours for testing.

Don't bother nagging him about sending you and you a copy of the tools.
They are internal betas, not for public use.
Kalek will not respond to any request for leakage!

We might get this whole pack Released by next week,
be gentle and patient biggrin.gif

I've added the majority of ITG2 simfiles to my game. Pics and videos will come later E1.gif. I bet I'm one of the few people that has over 100 songs on my ITG.

Anyway, problems I'm having right now are occational freezing, songs play too fast (but are somehow still on sync, maybe could be fixed by somehow being converted to 48 KHz?), ITG2 songs are only playable in practice mode (I can see them on the song wheel, it just freezes when I try to play them), and I ended up not being able to pack a few songs. It also seems to not like the songs as much like it drops a few frames when switching...maybe because they're not in the same PCK file?

I'll try noteskins and themes soon.

I'll do you one better than a screenie E1.gif

I am in the process of uploading videos of the song list and me playing Fleadh Uncut (its with a dualshock, and theres no score, so it doesn't really matter, except for the fact that its not supposed to be there). Before you watch the Fleadh video, make sure you listen to the real song.

EDIT: here's the songlist video
http://rapidshare.de/files/12844653/ITG_Videos_002.avi.html
[notice all of the nice ITG2 songs on the songlist]

Fleadh Uncut
(at the end I try to zoom in on the banner to show that it was Fleadh Uncut, but the light it to weird so you can't really tell what it is)

It IS still beta.

A FINAL release is in the works, after kaleks report of testing,
he is doing a good job on testing,
so we expect this FINAL to be around next week.

As long it is beta, there will be no release! period.

I got edits to work! Actually, it was really easy. I just put them in Data/MachineProfile/Edits/ and it worked fine!

I still haven't solved my other problems of not being able to play songs in Game Mode and the songs play too fast. Its nice to know that edits work, though.

This is incredibly good news, and even if you're other endeavors aren't successful (it seems the guys who uploaded songs to an ITG2 machine had the same problem), I would personally find all of your efforts worthwhile for this alone.

I got songs to play at normal speed.

I did this by opening the .ogg in Audacity, changing the setting to 48000 Hz, instead of 44100Hz, then I exported as .ogg and it worked.

I still can't choose songs from the songwheel frown.gif.

I also tried to add a DDR noteskin (KatzeArrows to be exact), but it didn't work.

Didn't work as in not appearing or not showing the arrows (i.e., changing back to the metal skin)

Didn't work as in not appearing. I tried editing it into the metrics too, but I'm not sure if I did it quite right (I'm not a StepMania skinner or anything).
