Why did they name it Dancing Stage? Noob question, but it always bugged me. Something to do with legality?

The same reason they changed the skin for the US console release of DDR Extreme. They felt like it.

I was going to say something else but that is just as good.

I think the Dancing Stage series is where Konami takes replaces the majority of dancemania with more mainstream artists. Dunno, its not 100% thats why annon has a better phrase.

If you just look at them, DDR and dancing stage are the same game with differant songs. Although some people still call it DDR, most will just say "lets go and play end of the century/captain jack/afronova etc"

Probably because in Great Britain they have a more negative connotation towards the word "Revolution" laugh.gif

I think it's because they ''remade'' the game in britain (songs, etc...) so it's called different

its like someone saying Coke, pop, soda, or carbonated drink. Its the same, but different cultures call it different things (Ex. pokemon and pocket monsters)

I always understood it as Dancing Stage being the DDR series that featured licenced songs OUTSIDE of Toshiba-EMI in Japan and U.K.

Although the USA doesnt licence from Toshiba EMI, its still refered to as DDR here. In Japan, there were a few Dancing Stage Games that were licenced from other sources (Like Avex for D.S. Disney Rave). In the U.K. They always licenced from universal (unless that changed). I guess the name just stuck.
