Anyway guys...

REDOCTANE THREW AWAY MY PADS!!

Seriously.

They just mailed me:

Those bastards at RedOctane wrote:
Hello,

Thank you for the email. Items sent in beyond the warranty period will be disgarded with other broken pads. We do not send these pads back.

Service RedOctane

Now that is some bullshit right there.

I SPECIFICALLY TOLD THEM that the 2 pads were out of warranty, and they gave me PRAs and told me to send them anyway.

They then claimed that the pads didn't have valid PRAs, which is utter bullshit.

I've gotten a lawyer. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Another reason why Red Octane fails at life.

Good for you man, I wonder how fast they'll correct their error when you tell them your gonna get your lawyer involved in this laugh.gif.

You should be able to sue RO for sucking...at life. and Their job.

I bought a RedOctane Ignition today, and I returned it a few hours later. What I found was that the pad worked decently on ITG (though I think I got an occasional pad mine, and selecting a song without it suddenly rotating through the songs was a pain in the ass), but when I used it for DDRMAX2, the synching was HORRIBLE. There was a delay in the pad or something, because I had to step before the beat in order to get a Perfect (I got the occasional pad Good or Almost as well). With all the good reviews the Ignition seems to get, I was not expecting this at all. Has anyone else had this problem?

So yesterday i got one of these pads at my local best buy in a red/black box. It worked great in my PS2 games, but COMPLETELY FAILED at xbox and pc. I figured the xbox/pc connector was just messed up, so i decided to just go return it today for the second pad i saw there. Got it today, tried it out, aaaaaand...

SAME DAMN PROBLEMS. For some reason these pads just seem to hate my X-box/PC because after getting a near AAA on butterfly upswing on EX2 i tried um3 and was bombarded with A) Down/left arrow combinations not working and B) the pad full on not responding. I tried it on stepmania and the down arrow doesn't even freaking work.

Sorry RO, i'm taking my money elsewhere.

I'm thinking of getting a red octane pad from best buy today. I just started to play standard maybe 5'rs and can't play very long, this is a combo of having no stamina and only playing off and on for 5 months. So I figure a ROI pad will be fine until I make it to heavy.

Like I was saying I was thinking of getting one but I'm not sure if I should, if I had more money yes I would definitely get a CF but all I have is about $100 to blow on a decent pad. Because I'm just sick of all of the soft pads sliding around and sticking to my feet and breaking every 2 months.

Also another reason I was thinking of getting a ROI pad was I mostly play at college with other people I have infected with DDR/ITG. I currently have all 4 PS2 DDR's and ITG, I also have 4 soft pads (2 with broken down arrows). We play about twice a week for about 3-5 hours each day but mostly on light and a few standard songs. So I figure a ROI pad will be perfect and portable enough to keep toting back and forth between home and college. Plus I wanted to try to play some of the 1,800+ StepMania songs I have on my laptop.

So overall I'd just like to know if you think this pad will work for what I'm doing currently.

OK. This pad seriously sucks for the money. I played on a brand new one last night and I got so many misses, almosts, and goods when I can AA ever song heavy/ challenge (except psm) on extreme2. Ill hit it right on and it will just screw up. I paid 60 bucks for my tx1000, and it is 1000x better than this pad (and my tx1000 sucks!). the soft pads that come with bundles and stuff are way better than this pad.

Mine's worked like a charm, I don't know what happened to yours. Just send it back for a new one, that might be a bad pad because the red-box Ignitions are much better than their older counterpart (the blue-box Ignitions).

I think I can settle curiousities with the following statement:

This pad has serious quality issues. The quality of these pads wildly vary so basically you're gambling with these things.

Super QFE/T.

Although, The Red Boxes SEEM TO have a higher working rate than the blue boxes it seems.

Ok I just bought a ROI pad yesterday I went to best buy to buy one for $80 but they were out so I went to gamestop and bought one for $108.24 ouch. But it's been great I can play standard on it with quite ease i'm Aing a 5 and 6 footer on standard (yeah i know I suck but I have only been playing off and one for 4 months maybe twice a week) but I can't do any thing above this for now but hell its an improvement from the soft pads and b's and c's for scores.

It doesn't slip around its really sensitive its great for now at least, also everyone else was loving it and the more experienced players at my college were playing heavy so they were happy as well. I think this pad will be a good transition from softpads to when I can actually play heavy and need a CF.

Oh and just for statistical value it was a 2005 model with a black box that said MULTI PLATFORM PS2/X-BOX/USB IGNITION 3.0 DANCING PAD

This is just so people will know how different colored boxs affect the performance I guess.

Just my $.02 on the subject of this pad

Uh, they're all black. Is your Black and Blue or Black and Red with an ITG advertisement on the back?

Oh and Reenee, I edited my last post there.

While the mod I did for my Ignition worked pretty well, I decided to toss the ghettoriffic pad, crack open the PCB and make my own metal one. Finally I don't have to look at the ugly thing any more.

same thing with me pad worked fine...when i got it on x-mas i could only do 5 steps...as i played every day i moved up to 8 steps around mid jan and then my pad just died...i ripped a sensor...all of a sudden i was failing light songs cause it would lag so bad...

IF YOU ARE REMOTELY SERIOUS ABOUT DDR GET A CF...

Hey, I'm new to this forum, but I've had my share of issues with the ignition 3.0 disgust.gif. I've had problems with the down arrow misfiring and ghosting, but thanks to the info from Zanshin and psisar, I was able to fix that problem.

Now I have a *new* problem frown.gif . All four of the arrows work properly, but the down arrow will not fire if the left or right arrow is held down at the same time as the down arrow. I'm willing to bet that I've got an issue with my control box.

Does anyone here either have a dead pad with a working control box that I could acquire, or know where I can buy control box components?

Thanks

Super QFE/T.

Super Duper Double Scoop with a Cherry on Top QFE.

Don't even bother with this pad anymore. Read a bunch of the posts in this thread and you'll see that this is crap. What... Only 1 person out of like... 40 of us actually like the pad. Take your money elsewhere people.
