0. Posted: Sun Jan 22, 2006 4:48 pm Post subject: Why do some DDR players use the DJ prefix? |
|
|
I suppose "all DDR elitists" would be more appropriate, but I figured I would be nice in the topic just in case someone who is not an elitist, zealot, or other form of annoying fanboy uses the DJ prefix.
A great example of this that combines both a horribly cheesy name and the DJ prefix in one, giving us a nice combo, is DJ Stunna. Is it just me or does that name scream "zealot nerd" louder than a fat opera singer screams words?
Seeing that the second word in the name is the epitome of lame names, is the DJ prefix added in order to somewhat upset the balance of stupidity in hopes of making the name seem a little more intelligent? Or is that just another ploy made by the elitists in order to make themselves sound cool that happens to fail like a retard taking piano lessons, and sound much the same too?
The reason why anyone would want to denote themselves as "DJ Stunna" is perplexing, although my theory is simply that their glasses are thick and their friends are thin, so they must attempt to appeal to people on the Internet by using cheesy names such as the aforementioned. However, please correct me if I am wrong on this, even if it is only by a bit.
Now, I shall tackle the meaning of DJ to show why it is inappropriately used in this situation.
Webster wrote: | Main Entry: disc jockey

Now, unless I am missing something, people that dance to music played by an arcade system, a game console, a computer, or anything else to a static beat by hitting one or more of four arrows with their feet and/or hands is not included in that definition. Well of course, there is also the definition of DJ which denotes that it is someone who mixes music. However, sorry to inform all who prefix their name with "DJ" but making files for a game so that people can dance to a specific beat and not actually producing any music does not make you a DJ. I know this might be surprising, but it is the truth.
Disclaimer: I had no intent to bash only DJ Stunna in this post. I just happen to have a bad memory so I could not recall the other people that I have heard about who also use the same naming scheme. If this hurts anyone's feelings, then feel free to post about it on Live Journal or MySpace and quote it as long as I get credit. However, sending me PMs about how offended you are will result in either no response or a reply that has absolutely no relevance to what you sent me.
PS:I hope that many of you enjoy reading this post. Please remember that although this post does bash people, it is intended to be humourous yet provoke some thought at the same time. Also, please bring up names of any other DDR elitists who use the DJ prefix and feel free to knock at them a bit as well. If there are any who are good people, I covered that in the beginning so read before you complain. Cheers. _________________

You seem to think that what you've written is of the utmost seriousness. It's just a username. The fact that you have "Dr" at the beginning of your name doesn't lead me to believe you're a doctor of any sort. _________________

Hi, I produce and mix music. It's only a hobby, but I still do it. DJZylch is the pseudonym I use when I give cd's and stuff to my friends and family, and the triangles in my screen name are for that Captain Jack tribute thing that started a while back
I also thought something along the lines of syn's post when I saw your username.
Another note, I am not an elitist or fanboy by any means, and though I take AP classes I am hardly a "nerd", it's not like I get straight A's, I'm a B student...
On that note, I don't think it needs to be said that I don't exactly need to make myself seem more intelligent. I will however admit to occasionally being misinformed or ignorant to some topics.
My glasses are nonexistent, and my friends are close, so what difference does it make how many there are? Plus I really don't care what people on the internet think of me, especially since they don't even know me.
Aren't most screen names cheesy anyway? And who really cares? It's just a screen name for god's sake. It's simply a way for others to identify a recurring user of a particular internet service, and it would probably sound even more retarded if I used my actual name. _________________

So how do you know that DJ Stunna isn't using that name as a joke name for these forums as well?
See that's the problem here you're making a point about something when you yourself are exploiting that point. This would be the same as having "1337_GaMeR" as you name and making fun of people whose name is "numba-1-1337". It's hypocritical, and hypocrites aren't normally appreciated.
Aside from that, it's their name who cares what they wanna call themselves? I bet in real life your friends don't call you DrShotgun, I probably wouldn't. So if someone you know wants to be called DJ Stunna and you don't wanna call him that either shorten it to Stun or something or just call him by his regular name. *shrugz* Simple as that. _________________

Atticus: Haha. You sure put a lot of effort into that post, so I figure I may as well take enough time out of my life to say that I only use this name here for comedic purposes. You people are funny though, keep up the good work. Actually though, my friends in real life call me Jesus and Dr Shotgun, aside from my real name for joking purposes. Not only that, my name sounds badass and DJ Stunna sounds lame buttocks. lawl
DJ_Ax3l: Nope. I am talking about people who only play DDR and do not produce music. Maybe I should make that more clear.
If you produce music, or mix it, I am NOT talking about you in this post even if you do play DDR.
Now that is some big text! lawl _________________

Your common sense must of been lost up the @$$ of a fanboy or something because all you've been doing isrejecting every other idea besides yours for almost the entire thread. Congrats.
I love how the fact of you being a hypocrite has shown up 2-3 times in here, yet you seem to reject it, just like a hypocrite.

First off - Who Cares?
Second off - People can produce music AND play games that involve music such as ITG, DDR, DM, BM, and other games. Why would it matter if they carry their music names over to the games they play? Yeah, some people don't produce music, but that doesn't give them the automatic restriction of putting "DJ" before the name they choose to be known as.
Seems kinda pointless to complain about the prefix "DJ". People can do what they want. |

You know, I find this to be quite humorous coming from someone who joins a forum just to create an obscenely long, pretentious post over something so frivolous.
