I personally don't use the bar, makes the game easier, same reason why I play x1. If I wanted a shortcut to be better that the game why not just throw it on little and go "gomgomgomgogmog I totally just got all perfects on PSMO!!!!"

I personally see this as a gross generalization from my experience - I was in an arcade playing DDR at least one time every day on Heavy mode and using the bar didn't make it that much easier - I still got tired at the same spots, had the same problems, etc.

Standard I don't need the bar - I sure as hell don't need it on light/beginner (of which I don't do anymore anyways) - but Heavy and (many) challenge mode songs I use it - and I'll be damned if anybody tries to make me feel bad about it. This is directed at those who think that people should use violence on those who don't play in "your way" or feel like dictating to others how to play.

its there to use at your own will, whether its maxx unlimited heavy or butterfly beginner. whether you wish to discredit other players' accomplishments based on it is solely up to you and you alone.

my post is really what an end-all be-all reponse should be, but sadly there will be people who will attempt to prove me wrong.

ZOHMYGAWD WAT ARE YOU TAKLING ABOOT, THE BAR IS EBILL!!11!LOLOLOLOLOLOOLOL!!11!!?????/??!!!1!

On a more serious note, people need to stop whoring out their scores, and bashing the infantiles of the series. So what if you AAA'd just about every song in the game, big deal. I had a shit load of fun when I played on the machine, and no one is going to tell me that my experience was wrong, just because they need to whore out their skills at stepping on arrows to just about anyone who will listen. Sure, competition is funa and all, but get over it. I'm sure they don't let people use the bar in tournaments, but life isn't a tournament. Just put your quarters in and start playing the game. You're going to look like an idiot to someone anyway, so why take heed to what some elitist prick has to say about your fun. I could seriously care less if some played Graduation Beginner and bar raped the whole damned thing, it's what they want to do, not me. Maybe next turn I'll show them that they don't need the proverbial crutch to help them along their way.

Nobody would tell you that what youre doing is wrong, but it does seem like youre telling people who aim for high scores that they are wrong... unless i misinterpreted what youre trying to say

some people think its fun by improving themselves and their scores... i think people forget that, and i dont really mean to call anybody out on that, but foxkillaz is a decent example of what i mean

The only times where I use the Trick Bar is only when I'm about to lose my balance (treating of it as a "safety net" when I play in Heavy & Up).

I don't have any views on bar-raping since I probably haven't been playing long enough, I've tried with and without and for me both have their +s and -s.

What really annoys me is when I play against my step-daughter who ALWAYS holds the bar, and I'm not doing, and the rest of the family crowd round and are like "You should be holding the bar" to me, because they think that she's playing it the right way. As if she knows better because she plays in arcades more than me, and is younger than me. She wouldn't contemplate playing anything without holding the bar, and she thinks it looks cool too.

I'd like to take her d**n bar away and see if she can still beat me......!

Edit (Cutriss) - Meaningless titles are bad, mmmkay?

I don't use the bar. If you use the bar it sucks all the fun out of the game. BTW, don't talk like a n00b. I used to, and I still haven't fixed my rep, and I stopped like 2 years ago.

Bar or no bar, it's the person up there who's paying and playing. So I think everyone else should just keep their own opinions to themselves and respect other people. If you're telling ppl that they suck or they're noob cuz they use the bar, then what can I say? You're a moron.

QFT

Anyone who complains about how another person chooses to spend money in the arcade needs to find a new fucking hobby.

Wow, I'm quoted in a thread I don't think I've ever even visited before. How sweet.

I motion to have every thread that harbors a bar usage argument to be locked, because this sticky exists. You mods do it for other duplicates, why not this one? It's getting old and ridiculously redundant right now.

Let them have their complaints, just because you've stated your point already and have found these threads to be repetitive and getting "Old"
doesn't mean we it should be instantly locked and deleted. Just don't read or post here, and let the Admins and Mods decide whether or not it should be locked.

Just letting you know.

I'm just stating that every single regular post a member starts on an Arcade experience gets locked, or when someone in Chit-Chat starts a thread on the songs they'd want to see for DDR it gets locked, or when someone posts that they AAed a song in Gameplay, that thread would get locked too -- all being locked on the grounds that they have a corresponding sticky to them already.

Why should this topic be any different? Being that there's already numerous threads on the topic in this forum as well as Gameplay in just the recent weeks that just eventually turn into the same thing, and this one only has sixteen pages total (a lot less than if you were to add all the bar raping threads from the last four months combined), then obviously this topic isn't being nearly as enforced as the other stickies are, and it's causing headache and commotion to people who are forced to reiterate themselves time and time again in multiple instances on the board, simultaneously.

Oh woops. I apologixe on my behalf, I didn't notice the other topics unitl I actually looked for them. I suppose we should either make this one the only Non-Locked/Sticky one or just plain old lock it. Sorry for not checking my facts. Now I feel all guilty and such... ^__^;

I have no real issue with the bar. Granted I'm no expert but if people want to use it, doesn't bother me.

I have a question, is it possible to AAA w/o the bar? I've seen lots of vids where people AA w/o the bar but never an AAA w/o. I've seen the Yasu vids and he seems to AAA with that bar consistently but as soon as he stops using the bar, the closest he gets is AA.

i dun think using a bar is something bad about it. Anyway, let them use if they want to.

I learned to play at home, so I never really had access to a bar, and never took to it. As for other people using the bar, sure, it's their money and all, but I still think it takes more skill to beat Max 300 barless than with it, but it's still a hard song. Doesn't mean they suck, they're probably just not as good as someone who doesn't use the bar.

I've been playing for almost 2 months on a RedOctane Ignition. I can AA most 5's and 6's and pass all song except 10's.
All without the bar.
The bar is not meant to be raped all the way through an insanely easy song, like what you see happening with people all the time in arcades.

Really, I think if your balance is that bad that you need to use the bar to play on light, you need help. But it's also true that its their money, they play how they want. I started off on consoles so I NEVER use the bar. I feel I do worse with it really.
