Price is better than the Konami Pop n Music, IIDX and DDR ASC.
Picture takened from Gamespot
Goes for about 2 grand.
The IIDX/Pop N Music goes about nearly 500 _________________

Does it have weight? I mean I know my 3rd party $15 guitar is pretty bad, but i've never really played GuitarFreaks in the arcades, so I might as well just strap some free weights onto the guitar instead of blowing $300 |

...except that isn't what is being sold. That is an actual GF Arcade controller from Guitar Freaks V. This is the real deal. Note, that the GF ASC is not yet confirmed (unless Konami get 2,500 preorders by Jan 3rd).
Also, As a comparison of real prices: The DDR ASC is not available to buy nowadays. The Pop'n and IIDX ASCs sell in Japan for Y30,000 and this new GF ASC has a list price of Y21,000.
If you want a decent Guitar Freaks guitar, the Konami Original guitar is highly commended (by me), and costs only $59.99 - I hope that the Mar 16th re-issue is as good in quality as the original release. _________________

wow.
nice guitar.
Why don't you go out and buy a real guitar instead?
I wish I had some cash to get that, although the color choice isn't really my thing. _________________

Update on Konamistyle's website... looks like it is going ahead (hooray!)
I've preordered one from Play-asia (overpriced, but hey) _________________

More like playing IIDX with a Cobalt Flux. The GH controller is not compatible with the GF. _________________

The closest a GH controller will become to a GF controller is that frets 2 4 and 5 work as R G B in GF with key config C |

Yeah, just incase everyone missed what he said, that isn't actually it. Thats an image taken from Konami's website and thats just the guitar taken from a machine! They even left the arcade connector on! Its likely that the GF one will be a lot like this though as both the IIDX and Pop'n ASCs are pretty much arcade perfect (except the lights) in terms of feel and looks (the pop'n fits the controller part design that konami ditched for the pop'n 7-9/10, and the IIDX one at least follows the same rough colour scheme).
The only problem with the Pop'n and IIDX ones is that they aren't 'quite' as perfect as the arcade. They are as perfect as you could possibly want, but compare playing them to the arcade just after playing them and you'll see what I mean. Not to say they aren't worth it though, but in terms of the GF one I'm just expecting it to have cut a few corners (such as flimsy cable to PS2, loss of weight (this would suck) and of course it will have a very different design to the 'V' design featured in the photo. Oh and the main thing is that the pick/strumming bit will have to be much stiffer than the KOC in order to truely match the arcade.)
With everything said I'll still buy one as me playing guitar freaks at my local arcade is still a complete joke, and for the price (well the 21000 yen price anyway) I think its actually quite a good deal =)! |
