So, whats wrong with the recessed arrows, sure thats less arcade feel, but in reality wouldn't it increase your stamina and your overall performance?
I'm just saying if you get used to playing on it when you go back to the arcade you'll notice that you have more stamina. At least... its a theory.
I'm getting mine on Dec. 27th ( I was stupid and ordered it on a firday =/), but regardless I'm pretty excited, sure CF might be the best pad out there, but this afterburner is able to play on PC without adaptars. Yeah, I don't know if it'll actually work with my PC b/c it might not be able to handle the static but I know it won't be the pad.
But thanks for agreeing with me AB is so much better then TX-2000. I think also its pretty much the best in its price range E1.gif

So what is the consensus for PC use? Does it generally work pretty well with stepmania, or has there been notable problems?

Browsing the thread briefly didnt pull up anything, and 30+ pages is a lot to search through.

It turns out santa brought me an AB, this thing is amazing! First thing I did was take off the plastic protective wraping(which is a HUGE pain in the buttocks by the way) and plugged it into my xbox with ultramix. It worked great! No disconnects or anything. I was able to pass Max 300 heavy on my first try, despite not playing for a month. This is something i was never able to do on my ebay pad. IT feels just like the arcade too and is ultra sensitive. Ill post in a little bit with a review and tell you how it worked on my PC but I am blown away by this pad right now.

I got an Afterburner for Christmas as well and I love it riiight.gif

Mine worked perfectly with Stepmania, the pad is Plug & Play and once you configure the buttons it's all ready to go.

The plastic wrapping over the arrows took about 5 minutes to get off, I don't see why everyone had so much trouble with it E15.gif

Regarding durability, the two back panels that aren't even used already have a few cracks, and the finish on the center panel is also starting to peel off a little bit. It still performs flawlessly, but it does get a little beaten up after dancing on heavy.

I scuffed the pad up a little bit so there are some marks, but it still performs flawlessly. Overall I think this pad is great, but I'll probably be sending it back if the arrow panels crack (which they haven't yet).

You know they'll send you free replacement arrows for 6 months if any crack on you.

yeah seriously where do you guys store it? I was planning on doing that as well leaning it up against a wall, I've been told that by doing this it prolongs the life of the pad, is that true? and if so HOW?

I just leaned it against the wall. I don't think it really makes a difference how it's stored though, just as long as it's not bashed around.

I got my pad today, and it is awesome, it works just fine with both Ps2 and PC, hands are a little harder then I expected, but still great, also I'm keeping the plastic on till i see fit.
Btw I think they messed up when they manufactured my pad, because the bottom left and bottom right panels aren't covered in metal niether is the middle panel, it white, as apposed to the top left and top right being metal, can someone tell me if they messed up or if im just being stupid?

They are metal, they just have protective coverings on them. You can peel them off if you want.

I just got an afterburner and it works great, except that the X button doesn't work. It's more of an inconvenience but it would be nice if it worked. I think the problem lies in the wiring because I wasn't able to trigger it manually. Is there any way to get at the wiring or is everything glued together?

oh thanks^ so I was being stupid, I noticed that myself after I played for awhile, but I'm not going to take them off.
Anyway, I suggest calling them, I mean it's their fault its not working properly! Besides, you don't want to do anything that voids the warrenty.

HAHAHA I had no idea that stuff was supposed to come off the center and two back panels, I just thought the finish was chafing laugh.gif

My X button is also defective, but I don't think it is a wiring problem. The metal part itself isn't fitted properly, and I can feel a suction-type thing when I step on it (like on Snapple bottle caps E15.gif ) so I really have to stomp on it to use the sensor. All the other panels work fine though.

*EDIT* Does anyone have any cleaning secrets? I play with my shoes all the time and the panels are pretty dirty, but I don't know if it's safe to just use a wet paper towel.

My AB works flawlessly, I actually can't see how I can crack these pannels from my playing, Its been said before and i'll say it again, the pannels will only crack from a certain style of playing, I play mostly flat footed, and i really don't think there going to crack anytime soon.

Just wondering, has anyone cut/hurt themselves on the resessed arrows?

I always used to play without shoes when I had my AB and I never got any injuries. Just a few calluses.
