Around here, a paper did an article abour our college DDR club, and some of our members thought it came across as "nerdy". That may be one reason.

The table tennis players here hate DDR mostly because of the supposed smell that wharfs from the machine (the ping pong tables are right next to the DDR machine), but I don't notice anything.

Other than that, the people here that hate the game have mostly never played it.

This one guy said to me "oh is that that dancing game where you jump around and look stupid?"

I've had arcade moments where a bunch of guys who think they're cool and have never played DDR before come up and jump around and choose Heavy mode just to look cool then when they cant play it they cuss and walk off laughing.

Most people who hate it give up easy or think its "for nerds."

I'd feed the image by telling him all about my stamp collection, then I'd ask if he would like to join me for a game of chess. At starbucks. If he was still in my "circle" so to speak, I would then enlighten him with the story of how it took me 5 hours to beat Jecht/Sin at the end of Final Fantasy X.

golly gee i sure do love DDR... okay so one time at six flags new england:

I was playing DDRMAX2 (Yarni <3 7thMIX) and since there was another clueless crowd of people, i decided to pretend i was super hardcore badass, and i simply turned the arrows to left on the 2p side, and stealth, so i could look at the other players screen and make it look like i was god to the noobs, you guys know what I'm talking about... after tsugaru, some "punk" children (like ages 17 or so) came up to me and said to me: (quoting) "Wow, you must be pretty gay to dance like that."
ME: "Yah"
punk: "You're gay?"
ME: "Yep"
punk: "oh..." ::walks away::

I love that story... moral: feed into it and make them feel stupid for even thinking of talking to you about how DDR sucks!

also later that day, another funny story, for fellow DDRers that think you can cut me in line "no matter who's next" I heard some kid say that when i was going to be next, so i went up and did POP 8 just to take even longer... while eating icre cream, and on silent hill (3rd christmas mix), i did that backwards freeze turn and licked my ice cream while staring at him... good times

I FINALLY GOT A PUNK!!! like 2 days ago, i was playin with my friend (who's on standard) i was doing standard as well, just messin around wit some freestyle and whatnot, anyways these like 15-16 year olds morons were heckeling us for a while, and our final song he was gonna pick Kakumi and they were all "oh, pickin a girly song, your so gay (guess i cant type what they actually said)" he's round there age as well and skinny and he cant rly do much to intemidate them, but as soon as that long break at the begining hit i jumped off the mat and chased um down, they ran like little girls. man, cant wait to see them again

Hahaha this topic soo relates to Sunday at Gable House. He and my boyfriend were just playing ddr until some young boys of 13-18 probably from Bert Lynn / West High started talking crap about DDR and how its only for people who have no life to play. My boyfriend (not a jock, but a warm friendly guy that isnt into crouds) " 6 foot 4" goes and says "You think your f$%#ing funny?". Then one of the kids comes up to my boyfriend and I slap him across the right face. All the other kids laugh at him and they were off. Yes this is a big issue about a lot of things being looked down on. Also, the whole "card-game fiasco". The local card store always has bullies talking smack. I hate how hierarchies go, and if the ruler hates something, the rest hates something.

Man, it's definately been a while. Haven't been here in probably 8 months.

Anyway, I don't care what people think. I like the game, and I'll play it no matter what people say or think. People shouldn't let themselves be influenced by the opinions of others. In some cases it may be alright. But in this one, no. If you're going to make fun of me for playing this game, and not even come close to as good as me, you're not worth my time or attention. Because people as ignorant and small minded as such don't deserve anyone's attention for that matter.

okay getting serious now, seriously. I'm not sure why they hate us, but it sure does confuse me. ... although not entirely. I remember when I was really little and I'd remember walking along the boardwalk and see a DDR in the window of an arcade (and mind you at that time I had no idea what it was) and I'd just snicker at them thinking to myself, "why in the hell would they want to play a game like that?" and I always thought it was a stupid game until the point where my cousin brough home a DDR game and I actually started getting into it, and that's when something clicked and said "Why didn't I do this earlier?"

Maybe they're thinking the same way I did, or maybe I was just a really close minded kid, who knows.

I usually just go "why why why why why why why..." until they get pissed and start creaming, then I jump up and down and yell "I win I win yay I love spaghetti".
It works quite nicely.
