Well, my mind has been changed. After reading all 33 pages of this thread, I'm certainly not buying an Afterburner. The looks are deceiving apparently. The control box problems aren't really a bother to me, but the amount of breakages is just ridiculous for such an expensive piece of hardware. I should have known since my Ignition 3.0 died in under 60 days. RedOctane will not get any more of my money. I will save for a Cobalt Flux. I want something that lasts. |

I'M SOOOOOOOOO PISSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got my pad in june so I had to switch the cbox with the new one and after that I didn't play Ultramix, I assumed everything will be fine. There was something wrong with the pad later on and I had to return it and I got a new on with a new cbox. So I just used the one I already had hooked up and the new one was left in its box. Now here I am playing UM3 and IT DIDN'T WORK!!!!!! I thought ok I have a backup so I used that one and I still have the same problem with it saying insert controller. WTF I have gone through 3 cboxes and I still can't use it on my xbox. |

Ever stop to think it may be the pad side of the connection that is bad, not the control box? _________________

This is my 2nd AB and many keep having this problem. If this was so then it wouldn't work on PS2. |

Not nessicarily. Certain wires could be frayed or torn, while others are not. And you first pad could have been the Cbox and this one the wiring, or vice versa. _________________

Yeah there's still something wrong as none of my Afterburner buttons are registering. So there's an underlying major problem here..
..which could be remedied by cobaltflux.
Edit: Creeped out. Switched back to control box that didn't work before on my newer playstation and it now works which makes no sense because i tried it several times before upstairs and it never worked.
AAHH WTF |

Just thought i'd post to add a little credibility to the afterburner. I've had mine about 4 months and have yet to have a problem. Its ultra sensitive and definitly nice to play on. Since my expectation were low im considerably pleased. However, when it does break (and it will probably) i'll probably buy a cobalt flux. |

Once again I am exhanging my broken Afterburner.....but redoctane has great customer service. I requested an exchange yesterday and I got a reply already that it was accepted.....this may break faster, but IMO it is now better than a CF. |

Just curious, why is a pad that has broken down on you *twice* better than a Cobalt Flux? |

I got two plastic hard DDR pads for Christmas. They say it can hold tons of weight like over 500 pounds. Once I got them we had a party a whole bunch of little kids played. The next day they were broken. Its all full of crap I hate those pads! |

so, I bought a RO metal pad last year around this time, it was a christmas gift. well anyways this week it stopped functioning, only the thing is it wont even register with my ps2 anymore, that is it acts like nothing is even plugged in at all, no buttons work or light up.
as you would expect, RO has been no help at all and I cant find anything online. does anyone know of a good site or faq for these pads? |
