This week marks the release of two new additions to your home music game collection: Guitar Hero (for PS2) and Karaoke Revolution Party (for PS2, Xbox, and GC). Guitar Hero comes with a PS2 guitar controller and Karaoke Revolution Party includes a microphone for your specific console. Both are getting rave reviews, so check them out! _________________

Karaoke Party = Best version yet.
I could go on and on about the layout, the unlocks, the customization, but really, just go get it.
There's a Freezepop poster in the background of the garage stage. _________________

While both games include Harmonix, Karaoke Revolution Party is majorly by Konami while Guitar Hero is partnered by MTV. It won't happen.
But since I made it, the end-all compatibility guide for the Guitar Hero's guitar on Guitar Freaks and visa-versa can be found here. |

I don't guess anyone has picked up KRP for the GC to find out what peripherals it works with. I would expect that it *happens* to work with the Mario Mix pad, but that wasn't intentional (since Konami's involvement in Mario Mix was minimal), but I'm wondering what mic it works with. The Mario Party mic?
Or does it come with one? The Konami page doesn't mention it, though it does mention the "dance mat" which is sold separately (unsurprisingly). _________________

I read somewhere that it comes with a black version of the Mario Party mic, and it works with the DDR Mario Mix pad (as well as any other 3rd party pads). I'm going to pick it up once I find it, so I'll confirm then. Hopefully after work today. _________________

I'd check myself, but I just don't care much for KR, and I've already blown money on, for example, Mario Mix, which I haven't even opened yet. >.> _________________

I had some time during my lunch break, so I swung by Best Buy and picked it up.
I was correct--comes packaged with a black Mario Party mic. I don't believe they're selling the game by itself, as with the other consoles (which means that I now have 3 GC mics, after getting both MP6 and MP7. Anyone need an extra one? ). Fully compatible with the Mario Mix pad. There's even a picture of that pad on the back of the box. _________________

Hey Guys,
I'm really proud and excited to see people enjoying KR Party. A lot of work went into the game, and I think it has turned out nicely. The only packaging I have seen for it so far does include a microphone for the platform of the version you are purchasing.
I also picked up a copy of Guitar Hero, and it's a damned fun game as well. Having been a guitar instructor for several years and a guitarist for over half of my life, I find it to be disorienting at times (I remember learning some of those songs when I was in seventh grade, and the game understandably doesn't always agree with the actual guitar parts). That's not criticism, just my experience with the game. I love it.
As far as a price for KRP, I'm not sure; you'll have to check with your local retailer...
Thanks,

Am I the only one who thinks that the girl on the front cover of Karaoke Revolution Party looks like some freak monster?
They must have hired the same company or something to make covers for the new DDR game and Karoake game. blah

I can't really make out her face on the KRP artwork.
The girl on the DDR art has an extreme underbite, though. You might call it a "freak monster" of an underbite...

I don't know which game you mean. Guitar Hero is sold by Red Octane in different bundles and the link to that is in the first post. The MSRP of KR Party is $54.99 with the mic (all 3 consoles) and $39.99 with no mic (PS2 and Xbox only). _________________

An interesting sidenote. You don't have to hold down the microphone button for the GC mic to use it like you do in the Mario Party games. _________________
