i think that it is kinda neat, but you must really have a bunch of time on your hands to come up with all that geometry for the ddr arrow. with me i just draw it and if its a little off then oh well. like i said before it is kinda neat.

quite cool using trig and all but i think it needs the rounded edges to be calculated in also. on top of that it would be nice if you could get a scan of all of that writen on paper because it is a bit harder to read when created on the computer.

and off of calculus/trig and back to geometry....

whats the area of the arrow if X = 1, 2 ,5????? E19.gif

whats the equasion for the area in terms of X??? E19.gif

it would be sometrhing like the big rectangle in the middle's area + the two sides + the middle piece... if u were to put the formulas in the same equasion (as long as parts don't overlap)

and now i think about it... big triangle minus 2 smaller triangles :\

this made sense in my head when i was writing it, so if it does not make sense... just read my mind k??? laugh.gif

btw.. i missed the bottom segment length.. it should be:
(2(1/3)(1/4)(SquareRoot(2X^2)))

*All Expressions Anti Simplified for sake of those who don't as easily understand lowest terms

Because you can't figure that out without high school freshman geometry (or even earlier than that).

Hay /Chit-Chat, I was bored so I made this in my spare time, am I cool now?

Wherein the exponent is the optical depth along the tangent line of sight Z-sub-t, delta-gamma is the spectral width of channel N with band pass function psi (gamma), delta-omega is the angular field view of the instrument with response W(omega). The value of the exponent varies with the tangent height; effectively 0 at 100 km and generally increases downward. It's a combination of Rayleigh, aerosol, and gaseous species extinction.

^^^yea, but thats not going to help in programming a arrow into a calculator frown.gif

yes, but you can find all the equations for graphing all the lines that make up the arrow.

all it is, is different modifcations of y=x of the form y=mx+b

how would you (originator) or anyone else program that into a colculator but include

f(X)=a [(square root)X^2] + K

f(X)= |X| +K

f(X)=a [(square root)1-X^2] +K

f(X)=mX +K

f(X)=a [(square root)X] +K

all of these are the diffrent slopes that i hope someone could use for me if they dont make sence when not written in normal form. the arrow would of coarse look quite wierd but i would like to see the program when you are done.

equations may have typos...i am checking me notes now.

Are you asking for someone to program their calculator to draw a DDR arrow? If so, I could do it fairly easily. However, I doubt you would be able to use it since you're probably a TI user (and I only use HP calcs...MUST...CONTROL...FANBOYISM). But if by some chance you have a 48/49 series HP calc, then yeah, I could program the arrow thing.

irecommend not using square roots in the equations for a ddr arrow... all you need are sinple linear equations
i had them earliar... i'll come up with some later if you don't feel like doing it yourself.. keep in mind that the middle horizontal line is being trisected.
