That is seriously one of the coolest things I've seen in recent memory! I can't believe that the prototype was that cheap to build, too. When you guys start production you should consider the possibility of making more platforms than you have cabinets. I could see people buying something like that to replace every dance controller ever made everywhere.
As for the game... I guess I'll have to wait to see it. I haven't heard anything about the actual gameplay yet. Just please don't turn out to be another Stepmania theme or songpack. (Even a good one.) |

Not trying to be contraversial here, just wanting to know how this stuff works, but it is definately funny that this may be the same situation DM Ashura talks about with Energizer, but this time He's the one with the copycat song(which I like better than M). |
Moonlight Rave is a remix of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, 3rd Movement. It's one of my favorite pieces ever for piano... also love Chopin's Revolutionary Etude and Fantasy Impromptu. (6 vs 8 = MINDFUCK lol)
As for M, I'm not even sure where it came from, but I understand it's not DJ Taka. The first time I heard the song was in Earthworm Jim 2 (as the final boss music). The one thing that annoyed me was that when I downloaded the midi, and worked on that remix, everybody was like "Hey look it's just M!" That ticks me off not because people said I was copying, but because people didn't see it for the original classical piece. That's like hearing Vivaldi's Winter and saying "Oh my god it's V!", or hearing Beethoven's Sonata Pathetique, Mvt 3 (Rondo) "Holy poopy it's Beethoven Virus!"
Not to b1tch or anything, but learn your classical music. It's really worth getting to know. |

The only source I can give for M is Aaron In Japan. Someone knows who made the song. |

It's a moot point, as M isn't related to this except that it has a song that's based off the same song as a song in DTX was. _________________

As per a Toxic Robot simfile of mine the artist's name is R.A.D., but regardless this is all off-topic. _________________

Agreed. My prediction in that regard: good steps, really bad customer service.
Customer Service: "Thank you for calling the DanceTrax support hotline. For quality assurance purposes, your call may be monitored or recorded. How may I help you?"
Arcade Owner: "I'm trying to set up my new cabinet but the monitor isn't powering on and the sound is very--"
Customer Service: "SHUT UP! You are the MOST STUPIDEST person on the PLANET and I hope your entire family dies of CANCER!"
Arcade Owner: "But I just bought this new machine and it's not--"
Customer Service: "I just lost all respect for you! Never call me again, n00b! Now taste the bitter sting of my angsty teenage wrath! TASTE IT!" *click*
Arcade Owner: "Hmm... maybe they should've put somebody else in charge of training the phone reps..." |
Hahahaha
Nah, I'm pretty much obligated to be nice nomatter the circumstance. =P |

1. We aren't able to release details yet, but it'll be a system different from what most are used to. But no, not dealt with percentages. Not even sure how you would really do that.
2. I think it is safe to say the majority of the songs will be harder than DDR, but ITG... I guess that'll be a matter of opinion when it's available to try.
3. I won't lie. There will be a fairly new concept available on screen that's in the works. _________________

I stand awaiting this game, as I believe in competition.
However, seeing the list of genres one of the people put out a few pages ago worried me. What I saw was nothing but Bemani micro-genres, no real diversity in the music. Happy HardHouse and Epic Breakbeat, and whatever words you want to slap onto a song mean nothing really because the simple fact remains that they are all dance/electronica. I like ITG (2) because there are dance songs, but then there is jazz/Downtempo (Changes), lounge (D-Code), hip hop(PA Theme), pop(Tough Enough), and even some off-the-wall stuff like Hispanic Panic and Lipstick Kiss.
DT doesn't seem to be a music game per se, more like a "club replicator", with surround sound and the entire track list dedicated to techno (to generalize a bit), I don't know if casual gamers/mall kiddies would appreciate this. I guess since you have the LED lights and flashing stuff though, you'd at least get attention. _________________

Of all the DDR knockoffs (ITG, Dancetrax, Dance Praise), the only one that is really worthy of being a true DDR competitor is ITG. Heck, it's my favorite 4-panel dance game and it even spawned a sequel. Roxor, bring on ITG3! ITG Rules!! Dancetrax and Dance Praise, in my opinion, will cough up smoke and go down. |

Keep your fanboyism to the appropriate thread and forum then. Oh, wait, you're that so-called "competitor" to Bemanistyle. Figures.
EDIT- You haven't even played the damn game yet. Way to be a noob.
And bad games can spawn sequels too you know. |

I've got a question: how will Doubles mode work? Will it require 2 credits like usual or will the setup be more PIU-like? (1 player can play however s/he wants)
I think it's GREAT that you guys are all here answering questions, and I can't wait to see more of this game. I LOVE the ITG series for bringing something new and exciting to the table, and I can't see my opinion of this game being any different, especially if such experienced and enthusiastic people are behind it. Bring it on =) _________________

we also have downtempo jazz, lounge, hip hop (crunk hip hop, chopped and screw'd hip hop, pop hip hop, standard hip hop), and pop (standard pop, teen pop, SKA, Punk). They are just not on the promo list, i believe they were added to that list a few pages back. And we have more hispanic songs than most dancing games out there at the moment.
I'm only showing 42 out of pretty much 120 songs... _________________

Ooh! I'd like to make an append to that: Are you guys considering variations of playing Doubles? Like, if it's worth 50 cents to play 4 songs on Single, you can play two Doubles songs for that amount? Or switch modes on the fly so that you can play two songs on one pad and one song on two pads?

We were planning on keeping it in the 2x the tokens for doubles. I will ask Paper2Production about the legality of permitting a "Joint Premium" Of sorts, and permit arcade owners to enable it if everything's KOsher.
Originally, I was hesitant about going public any time before we had finalized the game, at least in the promo series. Seeing the community's responce has been helpful, and may actually guide some of the last few details in regards to the game. |

This Whole project seems interesting and if it becomes a sucsess I will as the arcade that I work for to get it. But i have a question about the LED's. On DDR machines and ITG machines I love the fact that I can not lift my feet up but instead shift my weight to hit an arrow. Is that possible with this type of set up? because I know a lot of flat foot styles that would be shot if its not. |

am i the only person skeptical by all this? hundreds of songs from every genre, new cabinet with sensors using new technology which will require less maintenence and will be more precise, unrevealed but undoubtedly magnificently innovative new in game options, USB support, internet rankings AND a whole team of lawyers who have guarenteed that this machine will be released lawsuit free
and to top it off you're promising this machine will be released at a significantly lower cost then both DDR and ITG
i've been to enough trade shows to have developed a healthy mistrust of anyone who seems to be promising too much for too little. i understand the desire to create a little hype surrounding the game but i dont see how it could be logistically possible for you to deliver everything you have promised in this thread at a reasonable price, especially if you plan to demo this year. and delivering a product short of your projected expectation is a fast way to erode your customers trust
i will keep track of the project and i will be the first person to eat my words and purchase a machine for my arcade if you do deliver everything you promise in this thread but i caution you to carefully evaluate <every> claim about your unfinished product that you're making in this thread and make sure it is something you can reasonably deliver at a reasonable cost
