Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass wrote:
O CAPTAIN! my Captain! our fearful trip is done;
The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won;
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring:
But O heart! heart! heart! 5
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

It just seems to fit for a lot of you guys' feelings. I didn't listen to his music much outside of DDR, but I can still respect him.

My first AAA--ever--was on "DREAM A DREAM", Light difficulty. Incidentally, "DREAM A DREAM" is my favorite Captain Jack song, with "CAPTAIN JACK (GRANDALE REMIX)" being a close second. Two very awesome songs from a very awesome performer. It's a crying shame that he went so young. He will surely be missed.

Vaya con Dios, Señor Gutierrez.

FRANCISCO GUTIERREZ
1962-2005
Q.E.P.D.

*hums Evening Taps*

P.S.: "Q.E.P.D." stands for "Que En Paz Descanse", which means "May you (formal) rest in peace." It's the Spanish-language equivalent of "R.I.P." Considering that Captain Jack was Cuban, I thought it fitting to use the Spanish-language version.

I third the motion. I find it hard to believe other topics get smacked by bored moderators for less than this and the post is still there.

I do check my sources before posting things like this, Will.

And also, the so-called rumor about the stroke a few years ago? Not a rumor. The German news agencies reporting his death specifically referred to it, also mentioning his high-blood pressure and his repeated ignoring of medical advice with regards to his prescriptions and lifestyle changes.

Mine too, however on Booty Mix.

From the first time I EVER played on the arcade and found the Captain Jack -Grandale Mix- song, I fell in love with it. And who can forget In The Navy '99? But I think what we remember most about him is his awesome captian outfit.

Captain Jack had a few good songs. I really liked Captain Jack, In The Navy, and Only You. Dream a Dream and The Race weren't really all that great, I think. However, he was still a good man, and should be remembered. Hey-o, Captain jack.

On another note, the news post said he "collasped at a party" or something like that. Was he drinking and doing drugs at this party? Is that how he slipped into a coma?

Yes....without Captain Jack there will be an unfillable hole in the song list. Dream a Dream Light was my first favorite song. In the Navy '99 Light was the first song I played with eighth notes. Dream a Dream was also my first Heavy song. Only You Heavy was my first AAA. I will miss you. Captain Jack.

Just like many of you here, my brother and I had many good Captain Jack-related memories. Dream a Dream was the first song from MAX-US that we both really liked. It was also the first Heavy song my brother passed. In fact, Captain Jack was probably his favorite DDR artist.

It's a deep shame that he passed away. At the very least, he passed away with a great legacy. He was the Naoki of licensed songs - there are more original songs and remixes of songs by him than any other single licensed artist in DDR. Without him, there would be a HUGE gap in the songlist; and there are even more DDR-worthy songs thet he has made.

For your contributions, Captain Jack, thank you.
