There's no reason for this game to exist...

I was gonna stop it at Mario Mix because i thought it was kinda lame with the whole "Mario" theme collaborated with DDR. However, i let that one slide.

... but the fact that they're making "Dancing Praise" and i'm a Catholic is pretty retarded...

...no offense to you God, or anything.... happy.gif

If there are step patterns that remind me of my favorite ITG 9-11's, then I'd consider playing. However, I'll just wait (and wait, and wait, maybe) for someone I know to play it and see how it is.

EDIT: Actually, if they had "Yeshua Ha Mashiach" as a song, then I'd probably consider getting a copy for review purposes.

EDIT #2:There are probably several versions of that song, heh. (Scott Wesley Brown's version.)

I can hear the announcer now.

" Your making baby jesus cry! "
" Step Step Art thou Step Step! "
" You better step faster; 40 days of rain is on it's way! "
" Cough Cough have you choosen your savior? "
" OLJ! OLJ! (OLJ = our lord jesus) "
" You better keep dancin' or the devil will take your soul."

Lyrics aren't hard to find online:

http://www.dctalksolo.com/lyrics/solo/07.html
http://www.christianlyricsonline.com/artists/verbs/expensive.html

Sure, there is a lot better Christian Rap and Rock they could have chosen but they have a lot of good bands. I've seen all three that I listed lyrics for in concert and I've seen over half of the lineup in concert as well. I'm glad this game exists, I just have to see if a PS2-USB converter exists for my existing pads.

Ok, so apparently this game is NOT run on the Stepmania engine but is built from the ground up..

Anyway...yea, I've been talking to one of the guys at the company and he's going to send me a copy of the game for review, pretty nice of them...so expect something when I get it! I'll give it a good test and see how it works for the intended market...

I know that this is blatantly a DDR knock-off, but is it REALLY worth Konami's time or personal interest to go after this?

1. No matter how you look at it, Konami suing these Christian dance nuts will effectively scream "Konami hates Jesus and His followers." Seriously, it isn't good from a PR standpoint to go after religious groups, especially when there is enough naughty content in DDR that would make the group scream back and probably get some machines removed from arcades. Don't laugh, it's happened. An arcade in southern Missouri was forced to downgrade from Extreme to Max2 when some parents discovered Little... well you know. Funny, they traded it for the Whistle Song and It's Raining Men on the default list.

2. I doubt this project would net enough profit for Konami to want it. Those that like DDR and understand how to use it will buy DDR. It's easy to "get", it is available for all major systems now, and generally there isn't much in the way of questionable content on the U.S. releases. Why go after DDR and its few suggestive songs when the Christian Coalition could target Hot Coffee mania in GTA or something like that? Basically people that play beginner all the time will get DDR because they like beginner mode, hardcore players probably won't see much of a challenge in this one, and everyone else will most likely avoid this because of the religious title and its association with "boring".

This probably won't sell that well and going after them would look bad. Jesus - 1, Konami - 0.

This isn't the first time Christian game makers have ripped off software ideas. Back in the NES day a group called Wisdom tree would reskin games with Christian themes. And yes, they got sued. I'm hoping Konami does sue them because stealing is stealing, correct?

Oh, in case you want to read up on it, you can find a little info in this article: http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/07/06/news_6101873.html

I guess this is an answer to the satanic lyrics found in such songs as...Max 300? Paranoia? My Summer Love? Oh wait, that's right...there's nothing wrong/anti-christian with DDR.

What's this game going to have, 50 remixes of Michael Row The Boat Ashore? "Mike Rows Tha Boat {K.O.G3 MIX} - Jesus and his magic flute"

I didn't think that was seriously coming out.

Now I wonder if Konami is going to press a lawsuit with this company too.

Konami will have to deal with the wrath of God if they try a lawsuit.

Even if they want to sue, they won't.

The FAQ on their homepage mentions their PS2-USB converter, MSRP $18 approx. I'm not sure if generic PS2-USB converters would also work (hope they do).
