I'm ... top-heavy, shall we say, and playing DDR was always a challenge in the sense that either I just lived with the discomfort of bouncing about as I DDRed or else I had to cross my arms over my chest and play that way. I tried sports bras, of course, and expensive ones at that, but I think once you're over maybe a C size, they don't do *anything*.
Anyway. I go to Renaissance Faires, and I came across my bodice in the closet about a month ago. Ah ha... I put it on, laced it up, and oh my god glory glory hallelujah: problem completely solved. FINALLY.
Yes, it looks a bit strange - but comfort over fashion ANY day, particularly as I play at home and don't care how strange my roomate thinks I am.
A bit about bodices: They're a fitted article of clothing, so I don't think you'll be able to buy one online too easily unless you have your measurements taken and allow the bodice people to decide what size you wear. Bodices are supposed to be insanely tight for Faire wear (think Pirates of the Caribbean, Elizabeth's comment about wearing a corset) but you won't want them that tight for DDR use - the bodice I use for DDRing fits me perfectly now for game use, and it fit me properly for Faire wear when I was 25 lbs heavier than I am now, for example.
I think maybe if you get a bodice in black it could be a fashion statement as well as support. |

And to think I was going to post a countdown of how long it'll take someone to beg for pics, but decided "certainly not at DDR Freak." [/sarcasm]
Would that be, I don't know, hot and uncomfortable when trying to SDG Rhythm and Police? _________________

LOL. No worries, I have no intention of posting any pics - not of me wearing the bodice, anyway. I was considering taking a pic of it seperately, though, to show the sort thing I'm talking about: an incredibly strong thing, it's made from upholstery fabric with brass 'rivets' (not sure of the right word for them) for holes.
Yeah, it does get a little warm, but two things mitigate that: a) I'm not aching and b) I live in Southern California, where Ren Faires usually run during a part of the year when it's in the mid to high nineties or worse. Even those that are in the dead of winter can be hot. Two years ago I went to the Palm Springs ren faire, held in late February, and it got up to 102 that day (which is, yes, unusually warm even for PS in Feb. Bah.) Wearing full Faire garb - clothing intended for the cool and damp British climate - in sunny Southern California is mildly insane, to put it kindly, but I do it every year anyway.
So DDRing in a tee, bodice, and shorts ain't nuffin'. I have to admit though that I do my DDRing directly underneath a ceiling fan |

I thought I´d find something usefull for my gf, as she´s got the same problem... the thing is, playing with something like that at more than 100F would be really insane... or at least, I don´t think my gf would be willing to do so... maybe during winter time
cool that it works for you
oh, and I´m more than willing to warn anyone who asks for pics again... thanks for your civility _________________

I'm not top heavy, only a B cup. D:
I experience discomfort sometimes, but very rarely. Then again, I don't really bounce around when I play, but hot damn, I'd love to play in in a bodice. And maybe a miniskirt and stuff. That would be hot. (I play best in miniskirts anyway, oh noes D: )

Seriously Just talking about this subject is asking for OMGBOOBS posts, let alone mentioning actual sizes. Prepare for 14 year old invasion _________________

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

Hey, I really don't want to feed the "OMG BOOBS" fire. But this topic does have a lagitament point. Being a top heavy individual, I know that for a fact. I don't know if I would reccomend a bodice unless you really know how to put one on, because if you lace it too tightly passing out could be a serious problem. What I do at times, and this may sound crazy to many of you, is cut the control top out of a set of pany hose and slip it around my regular bra, the nylon breaths pretty well and it holds everything in, then I slip on a sports bra (the cheap kind, I'm poor) to hold it in place. It doesn't restrict my breathing and it isn't too hot. |

@MadTaco: it doesn´t matter if you wrote it as a joke... it only brings stupidity to a good topic _________________

there's nothing 14 yr old or prurient about this... I'm gay, so it's a non-starter for me. But J????
I've seen things called Ds that I can't imagine someone didn't have reduced to deal with back strain - how is J even possible?
As to the original post, that's clever. I go to faires every now and again myself, so I know exactly what you're talking about. Those things were *designed* to keep the assets up front and stable in any condition - it's a perfect use for it. _________________

haha, I've gotten that question a lot. It's a European size, because they don't make bras that are bigger than DD in America. Oddly enough, I've never had any back trouble. I'm just built large, so it's not too hard on me. _________________

My good friend and insane DDRer wears a sprts bra or sometimes two. If you know anyone who is transgendered or something, you coul ask them about binders (they're like REALLY tight sports bras that make your boobs all flat) or look them up on line. They work really well. _________________

I'm only a B or maybe a C (its in hot debate), and I experience alot of discomfort especially during jumps. I'm surprised this isn't hard to move around in. Don't you get soaked in sweat? (sorry if this was mentioned earlier) _________________

Recent studies have shown that the large amounts of pressure on your titties over long periods of time (read: wearing a really tight bra/sports bra all day long) increases your risk for breast cancer.
Just a heads up, girls. |
