I started playing 4 years ago.

I probably play around 4-5 hours, if I have time and don't tire.

I don't exercise otherwise, although I should.

I've lost weight in the past when I coupled DDR with a better diet. I eat terribly, though, so it doesn't drop the pounds for me anymore.

Well-being: It was something I found I was good at, and I've developed a large network of friends made solely through our mutual interest.

Strength? I'm a chunky guy, and the only muscular part of my body is my diesel calves. You do the math. nerd.gif

I don't know that I can DDR longer, but I can certainly DDR harder.

I doubt I'm much more flexible than before.

14. hmm, if i combined lifting leg weights and running alot more, than possibly. I think i would be able to do the some 9s if i was coordinated well enough when i started, but the streamy 9s would've taken a while for the reason of having to build stamina for them.'

12)How much longer can you DDR than when you first started? i used to get tired after about 1 game. Now i still sweat after 1 ggame, but dont get tired till about after my 2nd or 3rd

11)Has DDR built any noticeable strength? VERY strong legs. They are, actually, stronger then alot of the experienced high school senior football players who have been playing since they were in 5th grade. It's amazing, really E1.gif

12)How much longer can you DDR than when you first started? When i began, i could only play for about 1 hour... now, as stated before, it's more of a perpetual thing.

13)Do you think DDR has made you more mobile/flexible? Has it helped with any joint or muscle movement problems? Actually, yes. I had a joint problem on my left leg/hip joint that my doctor and myself couldn't figure out. I was always stiff and had to pop it back into place because of the oddidity. However, DDR (and ITG) have taken that pain away for some reason.

14)Do you think that you could have achieved [9-13] with any form of exercise other than DDR? Would it have been as easy? As fun? Yes, possibly through running high school track... but it would have taken alot more work, commitement and self-motivation. With DDR, however, with the collaboration of music, dancing and challenge, the thought of "exercise" becomes non-existent E13.gif

15)Do you think DDR is a good exercise? Absolutly!

7)How long does a typical DDR session last for you? 4-5 hours
8)Do you regularly do any other exercises besides DDR? Yes, I do weight-lifting to keep me from looking too skinny.
9)Has DDR provided any notable weight loss? If so, how much? Was this accompanied by a diet? I lost 20 lbs in the first two months, then I started lifting and got about 7 of that back. Not accompanied by a diet at all, I continued to eat whatever the hell I felt like.
10)Do you feel that DDR has improved your sense of well being? I think so.
11)Has DDR built any noticeable strength? Definitely in my stamina as far as running is concerned.
12)How much longer can you DDR than when you first started? I can do it for at least 2 hours longer on heavy than I used to be able to do on light.
13)Do you think DDR has made you more mobile/flexible? Has it helped with any joint or muscle movement problems? Hasn't made me more flexible, but I can move my legs a hell of a lot faster.
14)Do you think that you could have achieved [9-13] with any form of exercise other than DDR? Would it have been as easy? As fun? I think I could have done it with regular exercise like running, but it wouldn't have been nearly as entertaining.

12)How much longer can you DDR than when you first started? At least twice as long, and at a much higher difficulty

13)Do you think DDR has made you more mobile/flexible? Has it helped with any joint or muscle movement problems? My foot speed has increased; I remember watching people play DDR when I was just starting and wondering how the hell they were able to move their feet so fast. Now I can do it.

Not a weight loss exactly, but I haven't gained any since. (no diets)

6)How long have you been DDRing? I started July 6, 2004 (my b-day, that's how I remember)
7)How long does a typical DDR session last for you? It fluctuates, but usually around an hour to three hours.
8)Do you regurally do any other exercises besides DDR? Sit ups, push ups, jogging, and occasional weight-lifting. These are all occasional, and I have no real system.
9)Has DDR provided any notable weight loss? If so, how much? Was this accompanied by a diet? When I first started I lost about 25 pounds, this was in about a month, and with an hour or two of gameplay a night the wieght stayed off. I didn't intentionally diet, but I think sometimes working so much on DDR (some days in the summer were 8 hours or more) may have led to an appetite loss (wierd, I know).
10)Do you feel that DDR has improved your sense of well being? Yes, it got me interested in staying healthy.
11)Has DDR built any noticeable strength? My calves are at lest two times the size they used to be. And they're pure muscle, they used to be flabby.
12)How much longer can you DDR than when you first started? I can still DDR the same amount of time, I just don't. Too many other committments.
13)Do you think DDR has made you more mobile/flexible? Has it helped with any joint or muscle movement problems? Since beggining to play I have noticed that I have better posture and less problems standing up for long periods of time. I think that's just from being more active all-together though, as well as being forced to stand for an hour or more straight.
14)Do you think that you could have achieved [9-13] with any form of exercise other than DDR? Would it have been as easy? As fun? Yes, no, no
15)Do you think DDR is a good exercise? It depends on the person. Some people can't play heavy or even standard, even after months or years of playing. If you play on light, there isn't much of an exercise factor with it.
16)Any other comments on DDR? People who think your dumb for playing are just jealous they can't move like you... and I played on heavy after about two weeks of playing, which I think is probably why I managed to lose so much right out of the gate.

10) Yes, provided I don't fail too often.
11) My calfs are somewhat defined.
12) about an hour. However, you must consider that I have moved from Light to Heavy, so the steps are more condensed, and, thus, require more energy and stamina.
13) I can move a lot more with my legs. Dancing for musical has become considerably easier... That isn't to say that DDR teaches advanced ballet. It doesn't.
14) Yes, I have gained the same results, if not better, from running. Running has it's own bliss, but because of weather and time constraints, DDR tends to be easier to use.
15) Yes. Although it is not as effective as some other forms, it is highly enjoyable and easily accessible. Heavy mode, I should mention, does make me much more worn out than an hour of running, though...
16) DDR is a phenomenal combination of various musical styles, exercise, and video game that has never been seen before. This game is just about fun and gaming, but also transformation of the body and mind.

13)Do you think DDR has made you more mobile/flexible? Has it helped with any joint or muscle movement problems? No to flexibility. My muscles may be more used to exercise
14)Do you think that you could have achieved [9-13] with any form of exercise other than DDR? Would it have been as easy? As fun? Yeah. It could have been as easy if I did it religiously. Things are only as fun as you make them
15)Do you think DDR is a good exercise? Can be...I think it is good for legs. Maybe cardiovascular?
16)Any other comments on DDR? Its the only arcade game that will exercise more than your thumbs...
