Factor of a Ten footer:
really good reading without mods
fast bpm
step combo higher than 500 without jumps
max voltage
max stream
These are some of the factors of a ten footer. _________________

Not to sound like a jerk, but have you A'ed or AA'ed Max300?
Once you figure Max300 out, the ONLY difficulty in it is its extreme speed.
Cartoon Heroes has steps even closer than Max300. Max has eigth notes at 300, translating to 600bpm quarter notes. Cartoon Heroes has triplets and gallops at 170bpm, and throws them into already tiring step patterns. Those steps translate to quarter notes at 680bpm. Toss in the added difficulty of reading those patterns as tight as they are on 1x, and you get a song that really deserves to be a 10 footer. _________________

and those 2 step-jump-step-jump-step-jump-step parts, arghhh! despite how short they are i can almost never do them... those little runs are harder than all of both Stoic and Waka Laka combined imo. _________________

Konami makes 10 footers on their own. Half the time, it's bad judgement. _________________

UHHHHH try the last twelve steps. Why do you think that song is hard? It's only in the last steps.
Cartoon Heroes has no single section remotely that hard. Just look at who has AAA'd the songs: maybe 20-30 for 300 and maybe 200+ for Cartoon Heroes. _________________

Yeah, I'm honestly not seeing anything in Cartoon Heroes that would make it a 10. However, my viewpoint may be distorted; I hadn't played it until recently, and my opinion might be different if I'd tried it back when 9s and 10s were a challenge... |

Yeah, the last 13 steps in Max300 are hard, but they aren't WHAT MAKES THE SONG HARD.
Cartoon Heroes assaults you nonstop at a relatively fast BPM with really fast and complicated patterns.
Just because more people have AAAed Cartoon Heroes doesn't mean that it's significantly less hard to do overall. I'd bet money that most people who would have had a AAA on Max300 lost on the pause or the last 13 steps. _________________

It's apparently a debate on whether Cartoon Heroes deserves 10 feet, given the various definitions of "10-footer" given by users.
What the heck does your question mean? _________________

Sakura is 300 BPM, not 320. Anyway, I just unlocked Sakura today on Extreme 2 and I was amazed at how easy it was!!! I practice, and practice, and practice, and practice MAXX 300 and I still cant pass it. Sakura is friggin easy and definately doesnt deserve to be a ten footer. |

Sakura IS 320 after the slow part. Pay attention to the rest of the thread.
And the reason Sakura seems incredibly easy to you is that you've practiced Max300 often enough that 300 BPM doesn't seem as fast as it would to someone playing Sakura without having played a Max song first. _________________

I haven't even managed to pass MAX 300 yet, Nougat, so my viewpoint may be fairly skewed. I'm very weak in stamina, and the "metronome" effect caused by my steps on CF is something I have a lot of trouble relying on with MAX 300, but helps in Cartoon Heroes.
That's one really cool thing about DDR in general....just how different people really are in various aspects, if they're not absolutely god-like at the game, that is.
On another 10 footer note, I'm now trying to pass Paranoia Survivor. I seem to have a lot easier time at 1.5x speed, but for some reason, I'd feel better if I passed it with no mods the first time (I'm lame I guess ). It kind of has a MAX 300 feel in the final crossover runs, which is what is giving me a little trouble right now, but I feel I'll pass it within a few days.
Perhaps I'll pop in MAX and see how well I do on MAX 300 after many weeks of not practicing it nonstop...sometimes that seems to actually help, oddly enough. _________________

I have the same thing pretty often; it's because you don't get stuck on the same hangups. You "forget" the parts that make you totally tense up. _________________

ok sorry sakura is 320 not 300. i only thought that because on EX2 it says 300-14. anyway nougat i think youre wrong. sakura( except for a few parts) is easy. MAXX 300 has just way too many 1 eighths and sakura hardly has any. |

Same here. The only parts I have trouble with are the spins and the one part with the alternating jumps and steps. I usually get 3-4 misses when I play it. But I've only been playing it for a few days, and it doesn't take a lot of energy. And to a 1x player, it's not hard to read at all.

I agree. Sakura is unbelievably easy for a 10. I AA'd it on my fifth or sixth try. The speed changes aren't that hard once you've heard the song a few times, and if you count correctly (instead of relying on what you see), you can hit that note in the 14 BPM section every time. There are some catas that, for me, are harder than Sakura - for example: HVAM, Orion.78 (civ), and even Cartoon Heroes. _________________

so what, technically those are the only two parts I have "trouble with" at all as well, and i also only get around 5 misses on it these days, but that doesn't mean it's difficulty is diminished because i've been whoring it so much.
the people that are already really good at the game have a diminished view on relative difficulties, just look at Kiba who i'm always seeing talking about how "nothing in DDR is hard at all". you've only been playing CH for a few days, so considering your skill level (i'm sure youre really up there) of course its not gonna seem very hard at all and you aren't gonna see "what the big deal is". Most people that "don't see why it is so hard" or that they think its "laughable that it should be a 10 footer" have either whored it so much they've forgotten how difficult it was or are already a very good player who has no problems with 10's in the first place. I've only been playing 10's for about 2 months, and as far as I'm concerned CH has every right to be a 10 for several reasons.
-It is harder than just about every single 9 footer, by a pretty big margin.
-It is harder than Sakura + Bag (once you learn it) by a pretty big margin as well.
-So that leaves two really easy 10's, then theres a huge gap skill-wise in the 10s in between those 2 and the Max's/PS's. hell, even if you think Bag/Sakura shouldn't be 10's (shame on you if you think Bag in paticular) that leaves an even larger difficulty gap between 9's and 10's. Why pack all kinds of difficulty into 9's, then only leave a tiny bit for the 10's? the other difficulties have "spread out difficulties", 10's should be too.
-Personally i think CH is only a little bit easier than Max 300/PS, as compared to Sakura/Bag which are just plain cakewalks compared to them.
-There needs to be more diversity in the difficulty of 10's, just as there is with 7's/8's/9's.... Sakura and Bag can be easy 10's, CH can be an easy-mid 10, Max 300 and possibly PS can be mid-10's, and so on.
-And lastly, it is a very balanced test of technique/stamina and just about every difficult aspect of DDR, coming at you at a tough 170 bpm. One second you're doing this, another youre doing this, etc.... it differs from other 9's here as well in that no other 9 packs so many diverse and difficult types of steps into their 1:30 length. its almost like a "boss 9", this could be the "gimmick" that qualifies it as a 10. And then of course lets not forget the 170 bpm. _________________

Your input is very helpful.
