First of all, I wanna apologize in advance if this thread has been addressed before.

Do you guys ever feel that DDR is getting old and your getting sick of it, but at the same time you love the game. I recently just got some imports and not even that could save me. but thats a different story.

DDR originated in Japan and we're not getting any new arcade mixes because its dead there. I know for sure if we get a 9th mix, I'd be psyched about DDR as I was when I started. In the Groove is just not good enough. Basically I just wanna know how DDR died in Japan. I know people got into Pop'n, IIDX, and other Bemani games, but DDR blows every other Bemani out of the dust.

1. There were more DDR machines in any building than Starbucks in New York.
2. It was milked for all it was worth (DDR for gameboy anyone?)

*Maybe* GF/DM, and, to a much lesser extent, PPP. Pop'n and especially IIDX are probably the best Bemani out there. [/opinion]

I do like DDR, but I am getting sick of it. I'm bored out of my mind with DDR Extreme at the arcade, and I've lost interest in playing new home version games. I am, however, hooked on ITG2 at the moment. I haven't started hating DDR because of it, but at the moment, it's way more fun.

Anyway, DDR's death in Japan has been discussed before, and one point that came up in the previous discussion was oversaturation. DDR reached a point of enormous popularity in Japan, with there being thousands of machines in Japan, and many arcades had multiple machines. When anything is that popular, it takes a lot of effort to keep it going. DDR probably reached its peak with 3rd and 4th Mix over there. After that, I think they tried to hold the Japanese audience's attention by adding in J-Pop and anime song remixes as well as Eurobeat, but it didn't work.

As for DDR blowing all other Bemani out of the water, I'd have to disagree with that. Have you ever played Beatmania or Pop'N Music? I love both of them. And I think out of all the Bemani games, DrumMania is probably my favorite.

DDR is dead in Japan? Seemed pretty popular the last time I was over there.(2 weeks). Still seems popular over here too. Extreme 2 should fire things up a bit.

It's a crazy catch-22 America and Japan have.

They are both equally obsessed with eachother's culture.

Kobeyashi to hot dogs
Aaron to DDR.

I really wanna try Pop'n Music, I heards it's tha sh*t in Japan right now. Beatmania is the 2nd best Bemani after DDR, even though the last time I played was back in December.

Please explain why IIDX Happy Sky and Pop'n 13 have just been released and why there hasn't been a DDR Arcade release in over 3 years.

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]
