hello. My freind introduced me to DDR, and i really like it. But im handicapped and i cant walk or move my legs at all. So i play stepmania with all the official song packs on my keyboard. I was wondering the other day, if i wanted to ever play in a competition, do you think i would be allowed to play? I only use 2 fingers, and i have pretty much any official song. Or do you think i would have to get a dance pad and modify it? What would you guys who can actually play think if someone was competing on their computer? |

lol sorry dude, but i don't think youre ever gonna see keyboard users allowed into regular DDR tournaments, if thats what you're talking about in your post. not totally clear on what you mean. _________________

Computer competitions don't really do anything, since getting 99% on Pandemonium is a piece of cake, and stuff like that.
EDIT: There's no such thing as being allowed to play in a real competition using a computer. I don't know what lack of common sense led to that idea, but it might be interesting to study. _________________

If you found a way to hook up a controller to an arcade machine, I would let you in to play. I would have to give you the condition that you would give up your place (since it wouldn't be fair to the other competitors if you were considerably better then them because you were using a controller). I might figure something special out, like you could play the quallifier and play matches with all of the tournament winners. _________________

I have played stepmania on my keyboard at home with two fingers and i think it it easier to use the keyboard you dont have to move as much and the keys are really close to each other. i don't think it would allow it but i give you a AA for trying |

I doubt you'd have a shot at competitions but if you really want to compete against others, you could always try StepMania Online.
EDIT: Damn phpBB. |

it could be possible. IMO the only way a keyboard competition would be possible is if the songs being played were significantly harder than THE HARDEST POSSIBLE SONG to dance to. |

The game DDR is meant to be played with your feet on a platform, if you play DDR with any body part other than your feet you will be at a major disadvantage. If such a disability renders your lower body powerless, the game cannot be played the correct way. And the correct way (via foot and pad) is the only way competition is played.
If you wish to speak about playing on keyboard, check out the DDR PC and Simulator forum. If you wish to talk about playing on controllers, try the Console version forum. Otherwise, there's no DDR regular competition you could enter. _________________

if i ever get the motivation i could build something with those big buttons that are like the size of cd's, and space them equally like the footpad would be. The computer one is still plenty hard, especially if you arent cheating and putting fingers on every key. If i ever get a desire to, i might build my own pad where i actually have to move my entire arm instead of just my fingers. |
