I'd suggest you cut DDR out of the picture, and go do actual, intense cardiovascular exercise. _________________

DDR is great for losing weight if you're not into hardcore training. I lost 25 pounds in the first month I played. Of course, I lose weight quickly, and then stay where I'm at with no problem, but pretty much I suggest playing 10 footers non-stop. Don't even worry about the grade. Just go into workout mode and play until you can't go anymore. But definitely try to do ACTUAL training if you can, and don't plan a diet, just watch what you eat. |

Okay I didn't really loose that much weight playing DDR. Before I started playing I weighed about 130 lbs. then once I started college and work I really don't have time to lift weights or run laps or what not. So instead Monday through Friday I will usually play about 2-3 games just enough to build a sweat. I don't do the heavy songs or the hard songs, instead I tend to try and kick, twist, and spin my body to work all of it in those games. This kinda has become a freestyle method a couple of my friends have come to know as "improv". It's basically picking a song and freestyling without having any actual routine. Like I said after about 2 games I start to sweat a little and by the end of the third game sweat will be starting to drip down my face. Doing this I've lost about 5 lbs. but I've also kept my gut from expanding lol SIX PACK! Well kinda lol. If ya want try it, if not hope ya find something that works for you. _________________

I've lost about 30 pounds since I began playing DDR back in February.
Also, the fact that I've drastically changed my diet hasn't hurt either... |

It honestly depends on how much you weigh. I weighed 360-370 pounds; I've lost about 150 sense then. Doing all ten footers isn't going to change anything. It would be better for you to play 8's, 9's, and 10's in moderation at a constant pace for at least 2 hours a day. If you want to lose forty pounds, be prepared to set aside 2 months of this kind of workout plus a change in food intake. _________________

I think Phoenix wing should keep trying the DDR diet. I played the entire day once and I lost like 20 pounds and it is easier and doesn't take much time. _________________

I had stagnated on DDR for a while because I was getting bored of Extreme, but I'm getting back into it now thanks to ITG2, and just playing once a week, I've lost about 20 pounds. Although like other people have said, I've changed my diet as well. I cut soda out almost completely, which cut as many as 500 calories out of my diet. That being said, if I could hit ITG2 3 or 4 times a week, I'd probably a lot more. What's kind of funny is ITG2's calorie counter. According to it, I burn over 2,000 calories per session. o_O I play for about 2 hours. I find it kind of hard to believe I can burn 1,000 calories an hour. |

I guess it depends on how much you play, and what you eat. If you play DDR for 2 hours and then pig out on cookies, you aren't gonna lose any weight. _________________

I've lost about 40 lbs from DDR, and I cut stuff like fast food, regular pop, candy, etc. The first 20 or so I lost playing standard for about 20 mins a day. Now I play for about an hour a day on heavy (8-10 footers) and I'm at my lowest weight yet.

I started playing DDR in college, and I attribute it to the reason I went through Freshman -20. There is a professor here that has a student who is doing a study on video games and fitness, and DDR is a prime candidate. |

I'd say play rounds of Breaking Point on ITG2, but that's just me. If anything will make you lose weight, that'll be it. If you are restricted to DDR, use Legend Road - although it isn't as good. _________________

It doesn't matter what difficulty you are doing, if you are sweating you are loosing weight. I lost 40 pounds when I played on light, then gained it back (because I am a disguisting fat pig who cannot control his eating habits) then lost 40 pound doing heavy over the same period of time (then gained it back ) _________________

I say eat a normal-well-balanced diet and then floods of DDR playing will take effect on losing weight. Cause from what I hear, half those special diets backfire when you're off them...
But yeah, it is possible to lose weight. Floods of people seem to report it... |
