well my dad wont let me get a TX-1000 off ebay for 70 bux and mod it. so im gonna get this. how long will it last without modding it. my dad wont let me do the sheet metal mod. so im hoping the copper foil holds up

All this info saved me some cash, i was going to get this pad, but now, ill wait about 2-3 weeks and buy a CF

But still people don't just come here and keep bashing the pad even though you never used it just becasue you don't like redoctane. The truth is there are still many people out there that have had no problems. Mine worked perfectly until I ignored something that I could've fixed myself and I'm suffering for it. And stop talking about the warrenty, IT'S NOT A 30 DAY WARRENTY IT'S 90 DAYS BECAUSE THEY EXPECT PROBLEMS WITH THE 1ST MODEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And on that note I can't wait till I get mine back, and just in time for EX2!!!!!

But its so much of a hastle to ship the item back to them so they can fix it, and wont you have to pay for shipping costs? if not, well its still a hastle, i rather not take a chance, but what ive heard on this thread, that it sucks, and breaks, and doesnt last long, even with warrenty i wouldnt buy it.

Ok, as far asI can see, the pad has only 2 problems. A bad C-Box and (I don't have this issue) arrows that crack.

I can't say much about the arrows as far as remedies, but Like I said, I don't think there is as much of an issue there.

If you wan't to make your own adapter (like you would for a home built pad) here is how the pins are wired on the original C-box (As reported from HID explorer)

Even though the arrows crack redoctane will be selling them and selling other replacement parts if I remember correctly. One of the things that sold me was the fact there will be replacement parts to buy at some point to fix it yourself.

ummm quick qestion how does this compare to a flux i have one but i get lost on it alot i wanna get this pad but afraid of the durabilty and the arrows are a bit diffrent but thats ok i dont mind them if someone could tell me tht would be great

ok, i got my afterburner back from my friends.. one handy tip. go to a local hobby shop and buy some copper sheets that they use for embrossing. replace all the copper thats cracked and then i recommend putting the sheet metal over the new copper sheets. use super glue when you're placing the new sheets of copper on.

it's pretty much a CF after ya do all that. PS: Make sure that the embrossing sheets are 100% COPPER otherwise you'll just have alot of copper colored foil sheets.

i dont think u have ever been on a cf my friend...the buttons are wayyyy diffrent from the arcade and even the afterburner. if you ever get them next to each other. anyway the cf uses circut grids and not sheet metal as far as i know.

um, the afterburner uses polycarbonate arrows. perhaps the first few shipped out were defective, but I play stuff like BMR's A and Vertex^2 on my pad all the time and it doesn't break, or even feel like it's going to. I also haven't done the sheet metal mod, and my pad is still responding perfectly. I have spent no more than the base price of the pad, so again, it is the best pad in its price range. The disconnect issue is a problem with your computer, not the pad. The same thing happens with some computers when using a PS2->USB adapter for a soft pad (I should know, I wrote the FAQ for PS2->USB adapters), and it has nothing to do with the hardware your plugging into you're computer. It has everything to do with your computer's ability to handle static discharge through the USB port.

Look, the arrows *will* crack on the Afterburner. 3 of mine are already cracked (after only 2 months) and 1 has a huge 6 inch crack across the middle of it.

I only play heavy 7's, sometimes 8's, so I figure the cracking arrows are due to my size (I'm 240 lbs & 6'8" tall). I only play with socks on too, so shoes have nothing to do with it either.

I just wish RO would get their asses in gear and send some replacement arrows out to me. They've been telling me for the past month that they are still waiting on their shipment to arrive.

EDIT: I just got an email from RedOctane 5 minutes after posting this saying that the Afterburner replacement arrows are now in stock! Anyone that needs some, let them know ASAP before they run out.
