I prety much hate any instance with little kids. And I mean kids uner like 6 or 7. Like I've seen kids just come up and start stomping on the already-in-bad-condition arrows and stuff. Gyah, I just plain do not like little kids...
Oh, and then there's when people start a game, do the first one, and just leave the game. That happened SO many times.
Then there's also my pet peeve of when two newbies pick double rather than versus... that just bugs me somehow.
And I, with many people, also get annoyed with many other people when people put their token up, leave for like two hours. And they come back wondering where their token went. |

I dislike it when people are leaning on the bars. It messes up my FS routine if I have a bar hop planned etc.... Plus I usually come close to smacking them in the face when I'm turning or spinning. I have to keep telling people to back up in between songs. Grrrr. _________________

Do I mind when little kids jump around the pad?
- No, they're just kids trying to have fun. I caution them to get off the pad for their own safety.
Do I mind when people lean on the bars?
- Not unless I really need the bar for a song, and if I do I just politely ask that they get back
Do I mind when new players either take a coin, or bypass the coinline?
- Nope, I just explain it to them.
Do I mind when regular people jump all over the pad?
- YES, and I have sacrificed nice combos in the past to physically kick repeat violators
Do I mind when players reach way across the screen to add a coin to the line?
- Yes, It dosnt effect my game but I find it rude when they can either wait until the end or walk their lazy buttocks to the other side of the machine _________________

I recently got to deal with The Shadower From HELL.
He's one of the better players at the arcade, but I guess he's really poor or something, because you very seldom see him actually put money in the machine, he mostly just hitchhikes off of other people's games all day. I'm really not bothered by shadowing usually, but this was just rather excessive.
He shadowed me for a full game, after which I stepped off the stage to allow him a chance to either play or leave, but he did neither, so I started another game, and he shadowed me all through it. I let the credits roll in full this time and he just stood there, so I started another game and he shadowed me all through it. And then another game. I tried to shake him off by picking annoying music, but it didn't work, so I thought maybe I could shake him off with stamina and tried doing three games of Nonstop in a row. He wasn't bothered. I tried using Dark, Hidden, Reverse, no speed mod, etc., and he didn't seem to care. I did one more regular game, after which he'd been shadowing me for like 25 songs.
Now, I'd mostly been doing 7-footers on Standard throughout all this. Eventually, he said to me, "this is way too easy for me, you should play on Heavy." I was somewhat dumbfounded, and if I were I were a person of greater courage I would have shouted "No, you should play on Heavy!"
Oh well. |

Dude, if you've been doing so well modding 7-footer standard songs and doing non-stops, you SHOULD play heavy mode. Really. |

Eh, I'm a lazy bastard. Heavy will always be there later. I've dabbled with the 5's and 6's on Heavy (and a couple 7's) and done okay on them, but for now I'm having fun trying to AA everything on Standard. I think I'm going to keep that up for a few more months now and try to get at least one Standard AAA (I have Cowgirl Standard down to 9 Greats on Single and 7 Greats on Double, so it might be my first arcade AAA) while sometimes experimenting with the easier Heavy songs. Then on January 1st, my one year DDR anniversary, I'm going to switch to Heavy full-time. One year to Heavy might seem slow to those in California and New Jersey but around here it's nothing to be ashamed of. I'm hoping to have 75% of Standard AA'd by then and god willing one or two AAA's.
(And about the mods, Dark and Hidden don't seem to have any effect on how well I do, so I always leave them on to confuse innocent bystanders. I'm working on getting to the same point with Reverse.) _________________

Another new thing that annoys me:
People pushing the select button while I'm trying to write down my scores for DDRecall...and they're not even playing with me. |

This is when i whip out a story. Lol. Well, i was at SGC once and me and my friend were play DDR and then we got tired after awhile, so we went to play other games. We went back to the machines to play and there was 4 girls playing...2 on each of the machines. So, we waited patiently for them to finish. So, we were watching them and they were playin light and the 2 girls on the Max2 machine, juss plain sucked. They didn't get the concept of the game at all. They were juss like, "what do we do?"..."idk"..."hehehe"..."i think we hit these arrows". It was driving me and my friend CRAZY. We were about to go over to them and practically teach them how it goes. Then, one girl on the Extreme machine was doing pretty good for light. She was gettin A's on like, every song she chose. Oh, but the other girl...she was JUSS like the 2 girls on the Max2 machine. So, yes. It bugs me when ppl play the DDR machines and don't even know how to play DDR. _________________

And when you first climbed onto a machine, you magically knew what to do, and AAAed PSMO the first time you saw it?
People gotta start somewhere.
Me? I started by promptly hurting myself on the machine. We have a give/take relationship. It gives me pain, I take it. |

Even better: some rugrat hitting the button while you're browsing the song wheel |

The thing that annoys me the most is when someone starts putting coins in the machine while I am playing. |

i play at a place called the Family Fun Center, and like the name implies, it's a family place. so of course we get a crowd going once in a while when we play. but once in a while we'll a mother waiting for us to be done so her kid can play with someone who's just watching, and she freaks out at the management because "we don't share!"...... how are we supposed to know to share when we're given NO indication that you wanted you're kids to play???
also along the same lines, when a mother gets mad because she thinks that we're being greedy by playing all 4 (extra stage) songs. after the first song, they start getting uneasy, then they doggy after the second song, and after the third song out comes management. _________________
This game has such a profound effect on myself that I now believe any and all of lifeâs problems can be solved by kicking, not so much tassles. For instance, my sister told me that I should go outside and not break so many convientantly placed vases, so I dragon heel kicked her in the face. That will show her for challenging me in my own dojo. |

well there's not enough of us that play where we put tokens up, just usually 4 at a time or something, also we don't know they want their kids to play until they're pissed so we can't really tell them to do that anyway lol _________________

Like many people, I empty my pockets when I'm up on the pad (so my pants don't fall off) & set the stuff on top of one of the speakers. A couple of days ago, somebody took my wallet while I was briefly distracted by something going on a few feet away.
After about ten minutes of looking for it, I went up to the counter and they made an announcement over the speaker about it, then I went back over to the DDR machine to look around a little more. A few minutes later one of the arcade ladies came over & let me know somebody had just turned the wallet in. All the cash & everything was still inside.
I'm happy it worked out that way, but here's the weird thing: if whoever took it wasn't trying to steal but rather thought the wallet was lost and was going to turn it in, why'd they wait ten minutes until they heard an announcement over the speaker about it? I never found out who it was; they were gone by the time I got back up to the counter where they had the wallet. Weird...
Moral -- keep an eye on your stuff, even if you think you're the only one in the vicinity of the machine. _________________

That's happened to my friends and I before. We play more than one song, mother freaks out, management comes out and tells us to get off the machine. We explain that the game gives you at least three songs, unless you fail. Management doesn't care, makes us get off anyway.

to be honest i doubt that this story is true. any arcade you should be able to play until you are done.... you are legally entitled to get your money's worth. what "managment" apparantly did there is illegal. i dont think management would act in such a way. _________________
