Cutesy? Play some ITG2!
Little Kitty Mine, Spaceman, Bumble Bee, The Message, there's all sorts of cutesy stuff on ITG2.
If you don't have access to ITG in an arcade, then just wait for ITG2 to come out for PS2. That'll have the cutesy you crave. _________________

I am not a rabid DDR fanboy who can't get used to change, and I'm not an ITG hater. But as I see more and more people start to ignore DDR for ITG, I can't help but get worried that DDR may someday be replaced/forgotten. In some ways, I'm sure ITG is better. But DDR will always hold that sentimental value, the game that started it all. I can't imagine anyone would want to give it up, but it'll happen.
ITG and DDR can coexist together. But I'm just afraid DDR will be replaced. Then we'll lose the original beloved game forever.
Am I being melodramatic, or is this probable? |
thats like protesting the worlds 2nd car company for copying ford. and saying ford will be forgotten.

Ahh, one of my favorite songs. Am I the only person who suspects that in Little Kitty Mine, the lady singing the song isn't talking about an actual cat? Does anyone else suspect that she's actually using "kitty" as a euphemism for something else?
Look at some of the lyrics:
"We will be together, every day and night."
"Little kitty mine mine makes me feel so fine."
"My kitty is so pretty, no one can compete."
"She is always with me; my kitty is so sweet."
"Whenever I'm sad she will be the one to cheer me up."
"With my fine little kitty, I never feel alone."
Think about it next time you play the song. You might never look at the song the same way again.
(This is just a hypothesis, of course. But it kind of makes sense.)

I have to disagree. They are two very different games. ITG is designed for the hardcore players. Anybody I know who is new to arrow-smash games can't stand ITG, but loves DDR. DDR has a certain feel to it that differs much from ITG. ITG goes for the challenge, and for pleasing those who enjoy DDR with new features and equal to superior step charts. However, it still lacks the feel of DDR. |
i completely agree. to me, ddr seems more fun, but ITG is there when i want a challenge. |

Wow, you have a very impressive memory. I very rarely look at the usernames on the posts I read or reply to, let alone try to remember any of them. I'm humbled by your recognition. I mean that with utmost sincerely.
But I'm just saying, think about it. The females I talk to use all sorts of cat-related euphemisms such as "petting my tabby" or "splittin' the kitten" (not to mention a somewhat vulgar cat-related dysphemism that I won't say here for reasons of politeness and decorum), so when a young lady writes a cute little song about how much she loves her kitty, you have to wonder just what she means by "kitty".
All songs (with a few possible exceptions) have meanings. If you can't find a meaning, there's a good chance you haven't looked deeply enough into the song. You'll note that nowhere in the lyrics is there anything to suggest that she is talking about a literal cat, and, in fact, if she were talking about a literal cat, then the whole song would not only be very superficial in terms of meaning, but would also be a bit weird -- who the hell takes a cat with them when they "walk the city"? That's one of many clues that there's more going on here than meets the ear.
THEORY: Kyle Ward figured all this out, and that's why he licensed the song. Why would he include a song that was just about some cat? I suspect he was able to see the song's true meaning, and that's why it interested him. Kyle Ward loves to include things in his songs like faint moaning (often barely audible) and and other hard-to-catch elements, so he'd probably get a real kick out of the hidden meanings in Little Kitty Mine.
Quote: | NO NO NO NO NO. |
Oh, grow up. It's actually pretty hot, and I'm not sure why you'd think otherwise.
I've asked three female friends about this, and two of them think I'm on to something here. (One of the two is of the sapphic persuasion, which in my humble opinion makes her likely to have more slightly knowledge on this subject than the average person.)
Also, if my theory is totally baseless, then how were you able to infer what I was talking about? I merely quoted some of the lyrics and indicated that I suspected one of the words might have been used metaphorically, without expressing (for the sake of decorum and politeness) what exactly I thought it meant, and yet based only on that information you apparantly reached the same conclusion that I did. That's rather telling, don't you think? _________________

ugh, ITG has novice, easy, and hard steps, just as easy, can you say 1 rated steps for every song in the game? i think its rediculous that you would rather play a game with no challenge than a game that has fun new challenges like marathons, mines, hands, and lots of different interesting things, and if you think it's a gimmick, you've obviously never played it, because that's what everyone says until they've played it |

Do you have any further information about this, like where you heard it or what he said?

Having just started to get into ITG, I've started to think of it as the IIDX of the four-panel dance game; it retains the same underlying concept, but revolutionizes the way the game is played at the same time.
That said I think there will come a time when people won't want to look back, save the fact that because they are made by different companies, some people just won't ever be able to let go of Konami. _________________

Even if DDR did come out with a new arcade mix, it wouldn't grab my attnetion.
In The Groove is a lot easier on my eyes than the DDR machine. Plain backgrounds, plain arrows, its what I've been wanting ever since I set eyes on a 3rd mix. The overal design of the ITG2 Dedicated Cabinets just blew me away, and the USB feature on ITG machines, just dosent make me wanna drag the camera along for DDR. In The Groove catered to the Die Hard playes, and they have done a darn good job doing it. |

What's to say that DDR won't fix it's problems. That's the thing about competition. Now that DDR has a big challenge (that is, to match ITG, or loose a core group of players), it might just step up and offer some of the challenges that ITG does. I wouldn't be too suprised if DDR starts to offer hands, and they are already inlcluding mines (will, goombas, but still...) in Mario Mix, which means that Extreme 3 and Ultramix 4 may have these as well.
And ITG (haven't played ITG2 yet though) jas a lack of the music that makes DDR what it is for me. Xuxa, Delerium, and the Spacekats songs are really the only ones that give me the upbeat. happy go lucky DDR feeling, and Utopia is really the only other song I really enjoy musically.
Put simply, don't underestimate the power competition has on Konami... |

Hey look I enjoy tacos more than burritos, this must mean that there's something wrong with everyone who likes burritos!
Sure DDR is older. It's still a great game.
I still play it.
I've said this many times, but considering the fact that most of the ITG plaeyrs play single songs to try to get a high score on them, ITG *IS* DDR. Just with a lot higher threshold of difficulty.
"DDR is old and stagnant, ITG is new" is an argument I can understand, but stuff like "DDR is too easy" or "ITG is a better game" is just... stupid. |

DDR will never be replaced within this era if...
DDR EXTREME 2 OWNS!
I mean, new songs, (although I have a feeling they wont be as addicting as extreme arcade) and ONLINE MODE. Man, thatll be so awesome. I just hope the online can tell the difference between the controller and the pad. _________________

Ok I like to think of it like this. ITG is like Super Mario Sunshine. Great game, fun to play, but not "revolutionary" but an evolved version. I think of DDR as Super Mario 64. Do you remember the first time you saw that game? It was "HOLY SHIT!" incredible. Now that game is a classic, and can NEVER be replaced. There were a bunch of games that tried, but they couldn't reproduce the original awe and wonder.
No matter how good I get at ITG, and how many 13's I dominate ( I can't do any right now, but practice makes perfect!) I will still come back to Midnight Blaze, one of my first DDR songs. _________________

AMEN!
I doubt ITG will be able to offer online play anytime soon. They don't have the resrouces, being such a small company. And even if it doesn't tell the difference between pad and controller (which ultramix did), it won't matter much, PAing a song is practically impossible with a controller, the buttons are too finicky, and aren't as responsive as the pad. |
