Just thought Id post this, it seems a little hokey, but I guess this is the direction MMB will be taking their brand new and improved BlueShark pads.

Not yet, theyre still designing the pad I believe. These are just concepts. (More like blatant ripoffs, but yeah...)

I think that the pad looks much more organized and neat with the Start/Select buttons at the top-middle of the pad. For the arrows, I felt that a simple design that's easy to see would make for a good gameplay experience. The X/B and A/O buttons are not used extensively, so I did not try to make them very "flashy".

any update yet? Not yet!

a few people post thier design though! very much likely redoctane afterburner! E1.gif E1.gif

I do not think mymybox will be able to make thouse blueshark metal pad as arcade machine quality! if it is the same as arcade machine quality, then it might be too expensive for me. $150 is good price for me. E15.gif

ha ha I joined mymybox forum to get a free dance pad! if I am lucky, I do not need to spend a money to buy thouse $100 pad.

E15.gif

I will buy Pump it up pad !!!

might as well just buy ur own pad instead of receiving a lil dance pad for all ur designing work. I'm sure they'll make tens of thousands more $$ than you ever will catch up to in 6 months from your design, and all the while, you sit back with your brand new metal pad which has a worth of $100 but sells for $199.99 E13.gif but if you ppl still wish to do this, best of luck to ya guys! =]

is this your blueshark metal pad design?

http://forum.mymybox.com/viewtopic.php?t=72

Not Bad!!! I think this is the best blueshark metal pad design in the forum, but Arrow button looks like RedOctane Afterbunner! E1.gif

oh, it is good idea not use corner brackets since we need to play without wearing shoes. if mymybox makes a control box, it need to support USB XBOX and PS2 as you mentioned. E1.gif

I think 4 arrow buttons are ok since I do not use ul, ur. riiight.gif
if the Handle Bar is exactly the same as arcade machine, that would be great!

Your design is good, but this guy talk about good point!

Nice picture too E1.gif more colorful.

If I were to design the BlueShark, I would go for as close to an arcade-feel as possible. Due to the cost of this pad, your main audience is going to be hardcore players who aren't looking for something that particularly looks good. They want performance and reliability, not flashy lights and pretty graphics.

The inside should be more than just empty space, as some metal pads are now. The pad feels weak and hollow when you play on it. The easiest method would be to build the inside from a wood or some other sturdy construction, rather than the thinner sheetmetal sections. The base of the pad should be some sort of rough surface to prevent sliding, but nothing that could tear up carpeting or damage the floor.

As for the top of the pad, Only the four arrows would be needed. The A/B buttons shouldn't be placed on the pad; they only serve as more things that can break down and need to be repaired. The plastic arrows should definetly be constructed from something more than the cheap 1/8th inch plastic usually used. A good 1/4th inch thick arrow would be nice, it wouldn't bend as easily as other cheap arrows do. The less the arrow moves, the quicker the response from the sensors, and the quicker the player's foot pushes off the pad. Those two things are the worst problems concerning normal metal pads; it requires more work than from the arcade to do as well as you normally would. What the arrows look like isn't really all that important, as I said earlier, people want performance, not pretty.

For the sensors, I would definetly use arcade sensors, or something very similar to it, again to reinforce the arcade-like feel. You could probably get by with only two sensors in each arrow, one closest to the center of the pad, and one at the opposite end of the arrow.

The remaining five spaces should just be metal, thicker than regular metal pads, as those can dent up easily from being stood on. The triangle brackets used to hold the arrows on the pad are a must. Also, the arrows should be sunken in, if I recall it's about 1/16th of an inch, to help distinguish the arrows from the rest of the pad.

A bar should be an option, but as a seperate add-on. This would need to be full arcade size, and made from sturdy metal, no crappy plastic tubing. The back of the pad would have holes for it, and it should screw in to provide a sturdy base.

As with the rest of your metal pads, a disconnectable control box with various consoles (PSX, Xbox, PC, and I suppose even Gamecube) would be provided. Putting the A and B buttons along with start/select onto this would be better than placing them on the pad itself, as I already mentioned.

if you take a look at it carefully, you can see the difference on the bar!
other metal pad bar is slim, but this one is thick! even the cover is thicker and looks like leather! I feel like this is the same bar as the one that we can see at the DDR arcade machine!

If I were you, I would wait little bit longer and study little more!

why do not you ask the manufacture directly? That would be easier !
