I'm looking for a better controller. I currently have a mad catz beat pad. It's a bendable paper thin dealio, and it's beginning to screw up very badly. I was thinking of investing in one that's a little more substantial. (Jumping on the thin ones does a number on my ankles.)
Recently, Rec Octane got some bad press for stopping the warranties and selling only at BestBuy. That's making me think twice about investing 100$ in one. (That's almost 2 weeks wages for me. Yes, I work a bad job and make no money... all for my DDR habbit.)
I was thinking about getting a GameStop pad, but my friend got one and the arrows started migrating. The Left arrow moved to the middle of the pad. He brought it back and got another one because it was still under warranty. He has a new one now, but the arrows are beginning to do the exact same thing.
What would you recommend? I'm thinking about just getting a GameStop pad. They're high quality, except for the tendency to have moving sensors. Do the gamestop pads allow you to take out a small insurance payment to extend the warranty?
I'm sorry if a question like this has been posted. If it has, feel free to remove it. I'm leaving for college in a few days and need to make a decision. _________________

red octane is coo but your taking a chance, seems to have issues latley. i have a BNS DX, it's about 1/2 the cost and didn't seem to have any issues so far (had it since last October); it's been through a decent beating too and still hold up nicely. but this may just be my experience. i love it so no probs on this end. |

OK. Heres the deal. The following is COMPLETELY true. I bought a "blue spark" metal pad on Ebay for a total of 60$ (10 for the pad and 50 for s+h.). I got the pad and ive been using it for months. It works fantastic. It has lights and all that crap too. The control box it came with screwed up after a while but then I just told the seller about it and he gave me a new one for free. his ebay name is plegend. He always has them in stock. just search in ebay for "Dance Dance Revolution metal dance pad", and find the one that has a price of like $9.99. Check it out. Its almost too good to be true, but im serious |

I can't find any pads being sold be plegend... only pads being sold by hydragames and vortz_inc. Are they just like plegend? (They sell pads at $9.99 plus $59.99 shipping)
Edit:
nvm, I've found the plegend2001 pads being sold. But they only say PS1/PS2. Do these pads work on the Xbox? |

A few people have mentioned it in this thread, but it really cannot be stressed enough. Get a BNS DX. You will not regret it.
The pad takes one week to ship, and when it arrives, the assembly is easy (provided you know how to use a zipper)
Once its set up, the pad is responsive and the SENSORS do not drift. However, the raised inserts under U,D,L,R do drift toward the center a little bit. If you are an arcade player you shouldn't be getting used to raised panels anyway.
This pad just lasts and lasts. I had mine for 6 months before switching to a cobalt flux, and the person I gave the DX to informs me that the pad is still working splendidly.
If you decide to buy a CF ($350 shipped) pm me so i can tell you how to mod it properly. Damn stripped screwholes. |

Been neglecting the forum a bit thanks to medical and academic issues... but, in that START HERE thread that Cutriss made a while back, he said:
Quote: | DO NOT POST A "WHICH PAD SHOULD I GET?" OR A "PAD X VS. PAD Y" THREAD.
DO NOT POST A "WHICH PAD IS THE BEST?" THREAD. |
