Amegon, are you aware that the TX2000 pads shipped to europe are much better than the ones shipped to the united states? You live in germany. I believe the american tx2000 was the crappiest metal pad i have ever had the opportunity to play on. I recently received my cobalt flux (arcade mod preinstalled), and I must say, after a few adjustments to the screws, I had no problems with the feeling of the pad. No pad is perfect, especially if you stomp on coins hidden under the lexan E13.gif . Don't get me wrong, I worship and envy you for the home made pad you have, but you aren't giving the cf enough credit for the positive things about it. Regardless, you should still shop around before you decide to buy anything that costs $300. And get the arcade mod, especially if you like cutting your feet open on sharp lexan and bleeding all over your shiny, new CF.

Loosent the screws so it's flat, you won't feel the resistance anymore.

ive loosent them, the plates werent bowed anymore, but the distance between both contacts are too big, so it helps a bit to reduce the resistance if u tightened the screws before, but the hook and loop fastener is too thick. you can even remove the screws and the 2 contact plates are too far away.
sure, after some time you will accustom to that problem. either by stomping or by pushing early. in both ways its a bad system. either you have to remove the spacers with thinner ones, or put something conductive between both contact.

You can put a coin between the pieces of sheetmetal, but there's really no point because the contacts are so close together. I don't feel any pushing down at all on mine when I step at it, it's only about <1/8" and doesn't cause delay or anything.

nonmodded its ~1/9"
but modded u can change it to about 1/25 inch E13.gif

problem of the 1/9" is the Velcro fastening. every edge is fixed with a Velcro distancer. in order to bow the thin metal plate you either need to insert it down bowed, or you have to work against the Velcro which keeps the plate straight. because of this there is more effort required and the 2mm difference requires more effort

i got another question (well... problem actually...)

Okay. My cobalt flux keeps sliding unbeleivably... o_O I tried the stick on griptape that came with it but after a month or two they got messed up and now they dont stick to the pad. (BTW I play on a roll up carpet) Is there any other way to keep it from sliding?

the griptape, maybe u can glue it or shoot it tight with a staple gun.

other suggestions:
u can try out some kind of rubber, same as u put unter a carpet.
if the floor isn't that plane, then a thicker rubber will still do the job.
otherwise u can try out velcro. one side on pad, other side already carpet, but may harm the carpet.
also seen some pictures of pads which are deepened in the floor, will help most, but i guess not a favored solution.

I'm about to order a CF, and I want to get an arcade mod with it. Can anybody give some feedback on which they prefer? (I care about functionality. Yes, the black one is sexy, but that's not why I'm buying it.)

i am ordering my CF today w/o the arcade mod because..well when i play i dont really feel for where i am stepping as much as i am steping where i am steping. so it all depends on the person. when u order it consider whether or not u require the risen platforms to feel where you are. i see some people that get used to the feel of arcade pads and go with it.

about me ordering it wont of coarse be here for a while but i will take some pictures and tell you everything that i notice about it comparing with the arcade and maybe a ignition.

~Xombie

::EDIT:: i am wondering what converter (ps/ps2 ->usb) works with the CF pad. i have checked around and alot dont work plz help.

If anyone here can provide any answers as well, I'd like to hear them.

Hi everyone. The Cobalt Flux is the best metal pad. But I was wondering, what is the second best metal pad? From what I've read in these forums, the Red Octane Afterburner seems like a piece of junk.

I would get a cobalt flux, but I have an X-Box. I don't want to deal with the ps2/xbox converters and with the corner arrow problems. Hopefully cobalt flux will soon put out a xbox control box.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Thats foolish to think the RO afterburner is junk, it's the 2nd best pad out there. The only problem people have had with it was an early shipment of control box errors. This was fixed and you can get your CB exchanged for free

I'd say cracked arrows and broken solders are problems too.

There are two things I'd like to say:

the only difference between the black a.m. and the clear a.m. is that you still get to keep your lexan panels w/ the clear a.m. So you can uninstall the mod anytime you want w/ the clear one. The black one, well, you just have to leave it on your pads unless the lexan panels were shipped w/ your pads. i'm going to bed now. bye.
