Dude, the Yoshi song is EASY compared to...say...That song in the bottom right of Secret, or CIA Rave.
Well, you know, I just wish that they would re-sync all the songs. _________________

Wait...what?
If you can get that far in CIA Rave, then how can you say that Yoshi's Song is hard?

That doesn't count, you have to actually use your skill.

Also, I just now got my ass kicked at FFR by the guy who made ITG. Completely true. Not lying. He had proof and everything. |
Well, yeah, because he also probably was one of the people who invented StepMania.
And if it worked on my computer, I would kick his ass. HARD. _________________

Oh, the problem is that I had the "M" Arrow direction selected.
Still can't use Multiplayer though ;_; _________________

BAD
Compared to stepmania, at least.
The ONLY good thing about FFR over stepmania is that it has a multiplayer feature, and that it doesn't require a download. Other than that- you should chose stepmania over it.
The lifebar is also stupidly off, and makes it posible to pass pretty much every hard thing just by button mashing. My gf can pass revolutionary etitude, but not Fett's Vette, how aweful is that? |

Hey guys,
I'm one of the admins over at Flash Flash Revolution. I'm afraid I can't tell you too much about what we have up our sleeve but suffice it so say that we're addressing pretty much every issue that's been brought up here. The problem is that most of the fixes will be released around the same time ; )
Thanks for playing our game, it's really great to be a part of the team and come up with a unique music game that people are enjoying.
I'm happy to field any questions to the best of my allowance.

I think it's pretty good. I still prefer SMO, but I'm playing FFR. I kinda quit SMO a while ago, but I guess they're still using my script ^^. _________________

I think it would be better if they made it so making a step where there's no arrow didn't decrease your life bar. If they tweaked the code around a bit... I'm assuming whats in there is something to the effect of if there's an arrow on the step zone and the player hits it, it gives you a "Good" "Great" whatever (Depending on timing) all else your lifebar goes down. (Sorry, my extent of programming spans accross a semester of VB in grade 10 )
It still has a lot of bugs, yes, but I'm sure once they tweak it up a bit it'll be pretty cool. _________________

Actually, not being able to hit an arrow when you don't have to is an integral part of the game. In real DDR or Stepmania, you're expeeted to be playing with a pad at least some of the time, so it's hard enough hitting the right steps when you're supposed to even if you CAN step wherever. In FFR, on the other hand, you always use the keyboard, so if you can hit extra steps you can just attach a piece of wood to the arrow keys and hit it with one finger in time to the beat to fullcombo every song. _________________

chardish! omg lolo!
Hey chardish, what kind of files do you use for songs, or are they integrated into the game?
And, is it possible to put all the R1 songs into R2? Cause that would be awesome. _________________

Backbeat pretty much hit the nail on the head about hitting a key where you shouldn't. GuitarFreaks does the same thing so you just can't strum the pick as fast as possible to hit even 4ths, even 8ths, etc.
Basically, in a game where there's no "almost" rating (like a DDR boo, etc.) that hits the note but lowers your lifebar, you have to have it penalize you for hitting a note when you shouldn't. GF does this, BM/BMIIDX does this, and probably more too.
Thus, we had to come up with the "Boo!" judgment that would hurt your score and your lifebar.
Be thankful you guys weren't around for the really old days, when we didn't have Boos, and hitting an arrow you shouldn't broke your combo and counted as a Miss.

Answers!
1) We use the .ffr file format. It's proprietary. We have a converter that converts .dwi to .ffr.
2) Yeah, it's possible to put the R1 songs into R2, but we're kind of keeping them separate projects for now. Things will improve with R2 once the R2 developer decides to go ahead and do finishing work on the new version of R2, but I don't really know when he's going to get around to that.
Lots of development is focused on R1 right now. Expect amazing things from it in the future. |
