its a violation of open source agrements to use open source stuff for a profit | IIRC, open source has to be free, or it can't be open source, but I'm not entirely sure about that. Its complicated, but you could dig up lots of info on the licsensing via GNU. _________________

As a Christian, I've always thought Christian music was a crappy idea to attempt to connect with people because it's painstakingly obvious no one would give up media-influenced stuff for "Worship Jamz".
this is basically the same thing. DDR > Dance Praise. _________________

Couples is where you have two players, a single difficulty between them, and a unique stepchart for both sides with steps that complement each other. It's been on at least 2ndMIX.
Step Battle is similar to a game of Simon Says. A full measure of blank arrows (Imagine four 1/4th beat ItG four-arrow handplants, blank as in having no distinct color between them) scroll up the screen, and one of the players (Exactly which player is chosen escapes me) does a little jig for one or two measures. After another one or two blank measures, the recorded arrows scroll up the screen for both players, and the process repeats two or three more times. It's been a while since I've played this mode.
As for others, there's Unison from the 3rdMIX family which is similar to a co-op mode where a single set of arrows scrolls up the middle of the screen and the scoring is based on how both players do. Battle mode, from the 4thMIX/DDRPC family is where arrows scroll up from the middle of the screen and split off to either side: blue arrows drift to Player1, Red to Player2, and green to both. In essence, it's a glorified Couples mode in that the steps compliment each other, yet the two players are competing. Magic Dance from the Disney MIXes is.. Well, it's what ItG's battle mode is a copy of, if you've ever seen that. Two players competing, gameplay tosses mods between the players. |

Heh, I'm a Buhddist Anyways, the idea is stupid. Konami can, and will sue to protect their rights. Big corporations are just evil like that. Didn't they see what happened to RoXor? Though ITG does rules.

Paint (it was in 2nd MIX *ac* as well). IIRC, wasnt it that you did the arrows first with teh song, then re-play it? _________________

You could even take the Paint file with you to the arcade and play on the custom arrow skins. _________________

i can't imagine many poeple buying this game. the only poeple that may be interested are probably already ddr freaks...in wich case they have ddr already. furthur more, how does making ddr with another sound track and slapping on a different label make a totally different game? a lot of people got on my case about how i don't like ITG just because it's not ddr, but i don't like it because IT IS DDR! sounds like they are all the same game, it's just not fair to konami and they have every right to sue and they should...even though it'll probably bomb anyway (let's hope) |

Agreed.
Konami sued Roxor because ITG was potentially a serious threat to DDR's home market in the US and a threat to the arcade and home market in Japan.
On the other hand, I don't envision this game even selling 20 copies, let alone 100 grand. Konami doesn't have anything to worry about with these guys, they're just out to make a cheap buck (good luck with that, LOL). They'll go out of business once they realize nobody wants to have anything to do with their obvious DDR rip-off with Christian songs thrown in. If this game were to be successful, THEN Konami would sue. _________________

That's why I used the word "potentially". Read first.
For all we know, Roxor might have gone financially bankrupt had they just released ITG as a home-version. People probably might have said "Wow, they completely ripped off DDR. What a piece a crap!!1!", and nobody would have bought it. Of course, Roxor knew they had to get exposure to ITG first to see if it would sell. So they designed an arcade version to get it out in the open. Where they went wrong was designing the Boxors to only work in a *dun-dun-dunnnnn* DDR cabinet, their main competition, their reasoning being, "Oh well, the machines are illegal imports anyway, and Konami isn't going to make another arcade mix, so we'll just use their cabs 'cause it's cheaper anyway". Konami obviously didn't like the fact that their intellectual property was being compromised, so they sued Roxor in hopes that it would cast a doom cloud on the home version, which Roxor went ahead and made since the arcade version was fairly successful. Konami didn't like Roxor taking away its "free home version advertising" by gutting out DDR cabs. In any case, it's in the hands of the courts, now.
As far as Dance Praise goes, I envisioning this doing about as well as MC Dance Groovz, if even that. Konami might sue them anyway, but I doubt the makers of this game are much of a threat to Konami as it stands. _________________
