Nice to see them stopping by Northeast San Antonio at Rolling Oaks Mall. I'll be there that Sunday after church, but I wonder if they'd let me hook up my two Cobalt Fluxes to one of their PS2's since apparently all they'll have setup to play are ignition pads. Prolly not since it's Red Octane and their Afterburner is the supposed mortal enemy of the Cobalt Flux Version 2, but it'd be worth a shot. Maybe they could take their Afterburner out of the display case and let me compare the two, but let's not get too entwined into the "which pad is better" issue cause I'm sure they're both good and it's a matter of personal preference. (Preemptive fire extinguisher, eh?) Anyways, it's great to see Roxor reaching out to the little kids. |

Even though Chesapeake Square is in CHESAPEAKE, not Norfolk I'll be there tomorrow. I want to see what this is all about. Plus FnG (the arcade at Chesapeake Square) DDR pads are broke to hell so this will give me something to play besides Tekken 5. _________________

I just received word from RedOctane that the entry listed on August 13th for Haywood Mall is actually supposed to be in Greenville, SC, which is where Haywood Mall actually is.
If you're planning on attending one of these events from out-of-town, you should be sure to perform a sanity check on the location now, lest you find yourself stranded in a mall without ITG on the appropriate day. _________________

Well, as far as locations go, some of those locations are JUUUUUUUUUUUST a little off from the cities they're representing. For example:
Rockaway Townsquare Mall: ACTUAL location: Rockaway NJ. The fastest and shortest way there from NYC requires taking the George Washington Bridge and then driving about 40-45 miles through NJ on Route 80 West. The mall is actually closer to Pennsylvania than it is NYC.
Livingston Mall: Another NJ location. This one is a LITTLE closer, but it's still no cakewalk. I guess the fastest way would be to take the Holland Tunnel to Route 7 to I-280 West to the Eisenhower Parkway South to Route 10 West. It's somewhere on Route 10, IIRC, but I don't know exactly where. (Note: I live about 5-10 minutes from the NJ side of the Holland Tunnel and I would consider this about a 50-60 minute drive for me. And no, I don't drive like a little old lady.)
Coral Square Mall: Not Miami FL either. Actually, it's not even that close to Miami, IMO. After checking my map here, I've got it at about 30-35 miles directly north of the city, and driving time would be probably at least 50 minutes, I'd think. I'm going to be staying directly due east of there, about 8 miles away, and it probably will be a half-hour drive in, what with all the lights.
Still, I might hit up the Coral Square one. It'll be something interesting to check out, plus I can report back to the people home here for future reference. _________________

A lot of the tour stops are placed in the general area of metropolitan areas- sorry if there's confusion on the exact locations.
As Cutriss said, please double check for exact locations. |

I just realized something. For August 21st, which is a Sunday, Virginia Center Commons closes at 12pm, and the event is listed as being from 12pm to 4pm. What the crap? After-hours event? |

Arch0wl LJ entry wrote: | I went to this "Feelin' Groovy" thing today, it was some kind of promotion between Radio Disney and In The Groove. You can find more info on it by going to www.ddrfreak.com - the focus was HARDLY on In The Groove and mostly on little kids and their parents trying to win Cabbage Patch dolls from a trivia game. I'm sure most ITG players thought it was going to be centered around ITG, but this was not the case.
There were these instructors in light gray radio disney shirts and light gray shorts playing with these little kids, and you had to play on these home pads barefoot. They played on a 60" widescreen TV that was very low to the ground, Carly and I had to scoot the pads about 2-3 feet back. We played Disconnected Hyper on hard and the instructors were like... floored at how I got an S on it. I wasn't even sweating, geez.
Anyways, I'm sure this will promote ITG a lot. However, if you heard the announcement on DDRFreak or whatever, trust me, it's NOT worth it. I expected to meet someone from the ITG team there, because all my experiences with the ITG team have been pleasant, but it was almost ALL Radio Disney. ITG was just playing 3rd wheel, really.
I don't know if I agree with the approach to market ITG to little kids, because I've always wanted people to take dance games more serious so that the competitive spark for national tournaments can come back. I always love seeing heated matches and people pushing the game to the limits. Myself, I'm not anything special, but that doesn't mean I don't like seeing people compete and/or competing with people around my skill level. I'm afraid that if it gets recognized as "kiddy", maybe even more kiddy than DDR, that it will just tarnish the dancing game reputation. |
I'm not sucking up to Arch or anything, but just hearing home pads saddens me very much...and I live 20-30 minutes away from Miami. Oh well, i'm getting ITG for my birthday in 3 days . _________________

I also went to the one in Mission Viejo today. It was terrible. 95% of the floor was devoted to Radio Disney, and whatever retarded shit they were doing (I saw way too many Cabbage Patch Kids logos), with an extremely small ITG PS2 demo in the VERY back of the area. How disappointing. |

So...my question is: Can people who are not kids play ITG at this event? They keep saying for the kids, for the kids, for the kids, blah blah blah.... I don't want to get turned away because I'm six feet tall... _________________

There are people from ITGFreak that have went, so I believe it shouldn't be a problem. _________________
