ive had stepmania running on my windows computer in the basement for about a month with no problems. when i installed it with songs on this computer, a mac running os x tiger, i get this error message when i try to start a song. (i can open stepmania and get all the way to the choose song menu)

Try deleting the Cache directory inside your Stepmania directory and restarting the program, forcing it to rebuild its cache. Probably the cache index has gotten out of sync with the actual cache, but if you delete both it should rebuild it properly.

Post back if that doesn't work because there are some more things you can try.

Can I jump on for a ride with this thread with my own Mac OSX stepmania problem? I have had Stepmania (3.9 rc3) installed on my powerbook G4 for a few months, and it has worked flawlessly. I didn't use it for a few weeks or so. Now, everytime I start it up, after the initial song loading information display, the screen goes dark, then, instead of showing the stepmania logo, it just shows a white rectangle filling the screen. After that, no graphics are correct, there is garbage on the screen (looks like the bit depth has somehow gotten broken or something, since there are little repeating arrays on the screen). I tried trashing the app and its folder and re-downloading and re-installing, and still the same thing happens. Any ideas on what else to try?

thanks much

ive got absolutly no clue...

did you install any new programs during the time you didnt use it?

are you doing anything diffrent?

did you get any new songs?

if not, just try downloading a slightly older version of SM and try installing that, it might be that your computer doesnt have enough memory all of the sudden or somthing.
