SM on your iPod?

i was searching through ipodlinux.org when i came across an ipod linux that had sm bundled in it. the image and description are here, and the linux distro can be found here

can maybe someone check it out? i haven't got acess to an iPod that i can load linux to, but if this sm works well enough, i'd think an ipod is a good investment.

OH GAWD! After hours of fiddling, I got it to work.

I cannot play it or use options of any kind. This is an old build. Once I can get a newer build, I'll get updates for ya.

So as of now.

- It does NOTHING but scroll arrows
- The only other thing is the grid at the top (no grades, nothing)
- It makes a little noise when you hit the button
- The scroll wheel corrosponds to the arrows (|<< = left, MENU = up, >>| = right, > || = down) and SELECT is to exit
- I can't seem to actually HIT any arrows
- It's very slow
- When you play, it becomes choppy
- There is NO SONG to accompany the arrows
- When the song finishes, it just sits there.

At this point, it's pretty much nothing. Let's hope this guy really wants to make this happen, because it could really become something.

Something tells me that it's not StepMania at all. It seems more like a simple arrow-scrolling program to me. Maybe something to view stepcharts with?

hmm... it does seem like a start on something though, even if it it's not exactly SM on your ipod, but a full mobile sm maybe? (just a thought)

well, until ipod become more powerful, i guess we're stuck with a step scroller eh? still something you can show off to your friends (although, i've seen pictures of ipods playing final fantasy)

Maybe I should have stated this more clearly: It's not StepMania-anything. Whatever it is, it's homebrew and not related to StepMania.

There's no way you'd be able to prove that it really is StepMania without providing the source code. And don't try to convince me that being labelled StepMania proves its validity. If I had a pet named Rover, more often than not people would assume I had a dog if I didn't tell them it was a cat.

Go get me the source code.

i know it's it's not sm, i'm just calling it that because that's what it's called on the site, and besides, if the intent were to *try* to be sm, and it used the idea of sm as a base, it can be called Sm for ipod, since sm is under the MIT License.

or am i wrong. point is, it's acknowlaged it's not the sm from the sm team
