mine still works as good as the day I got it. Better actually, since I modded it and made the arrows just a touch higher (they felt a little bit TOO low for my taste).

Well, I just got mine today, and as far as I can tell, there is no reason for it to die and be unfixable from the design. One could rebuild the sensors with sheet metal fairly easily, and all the boards are in the replaceable Cbox.

Now, I weigh about 260 lb, wear a size 13 shoe, and do songs from 8-10 in diffuclty. If anyone is going to beat the crap out of this pad it is me.
(I have cracked an arcade machine's panels before)

So, first thing I do after getting it is set it up where it was meant to go, in my living room hooked up to ITG. Initial impression is very good. I didn't notice any missed steps. Very responsive. all good.

Next I take it and hook it up to my powerbook via the Afterburner's USB cable. All is again well (at first). I start with a few warm ups in the 5-6 range. AA-AAA's there. So then I decide to load up Liberi Fatali, since what's the point of having a good DDR pad if you don't use it with some FF music.

It seems ok right up to the first tripilet run. Bam, cuts out.
I had hoped that they really weren't gonna send me a messed up box, but I was wrong....

Then out comes the EMS dual shooter and we're back in buisness. It seemed all happy after that. The only problem I noticed is that my foot is a little bigger than the arrows, so playing flat footed creates a pain in my heel where it hits the edge. (But this happens at the arcade sometimes as well)

The damage done in day one:
The pad seems to work fine, but it doesn't look quite as nice.
There are scuffs and marks aplenty. I'm glad the arrows are black, otherwise they would look more like a basketball court.

The pad also seems to have devolped a creek. When I first got it, it was totally silent. Now I get a creek when putting my weight on the center or side panels.....

I'll let ya'll know how the rest goes. I'll be calling RO about the Cbox in the morning. I really wonder if they read these forums. If 90% of the boxes don't work properly, why are they still sending em out..........

I believe the crack noise is normal, I always got that and I'm 150lbs. Otherwise I don't know what to say, I forgot what the weight limit was.

After heavy play, my screws came loose on a few of the arrows. The screws holding the two pads FELL OUT...LOL.

So yeah....not much of a problem....just figured we should know everything there is to know.

I dont know about CobaltFlux customers. But I do know that you Afterburner customers are getting ripped off. I built 2 pads about 1 1/2 ago. I sold them. I almost bought an Afterburner because I really didnt feel like making more. Well im glad I went ahead and made somemore pads. Im 250lbs and have never cracked any of my plexiglass or had any real problems at all. You people need to gang up on RedOctane and get these pads either replaced or get your money back. You could have built 2 awesome pads for what you have paid for this junk. Plus you are gonna be out of money if you have to send them back for repair.
It sucks that these companies do this to people.Good luck and if you need any help building a pad I will be happy to help...........Mike

Red Octane is a really horrible company who only wants you money, if they DID read this forum, I would (to be cliche) eat my hat.

I didn't want to deal with the calling/e-mailing stuff so I drove to RedOctane offices today. Aside from the impromptu closing of the highway, I did make it there, and the people at RO were very nice to me. They informed me that they only do exchanges online, but were nice enough to do the exchange then and there since I had brought my busted pad there. So, I have a new pad, it works, viva la home play! My only concern is that, if my new pad goes out, my warranty is almost expired so I might not be as fortunate a second time.

gerinis: People who work at Red Octane do post on this forum, so I'm sure they see/will see it. EDIT: I recommend putting blueberry syrup on the hat before eating.

Doesn't the warranty reset when you get a new one? So I just got the sticker in the mail and am about to send it out. Good thing I saved the box it came in but I have explain what happnened to the top of the pad and hopefully they won't bite my head off for it. I'm sure if people keep having trouble with the pad they will make it better instead of constantly losing money on it.

"Doesn't the warranty reset when you get a new one?"
Oh yeah, and this is the third time im sending back for a new one. Each time you get a new order number. So it basically says you bought the pad with a coupon on that date, everytime you get a new one, so the warranty is back. My pads broke within 1 week. I only played 8-9 footers also. First the sensors died, then the connector in the front got screwed up (happened everytime) And this is supposed to survive songs like Pandemonium on Expert??? I think its time I just ask for my money back.

I wonder what Red Octane is going to do with a warehouse full of broken mats? When are they going to get the hint that their crap doesn't work?

They just package them in a box and sell them on eBay claiming that they're "Refurbished." That's what they did with their old metal pads, anyway.

Well dude. They arent going to get the hint untill the consumers get the hint. If people keep buying there garbage, they will continue to make it.
I would emagine that when they get a pad back that dont work. They fix it and sell it on ebay or I dont doubt ...even selling as new again. To bad. Their pads look nice. Now if they could make them accually work
