jang, the sheet metal you would need to buy would cost you about $1 at homedepot or lowes. You can use any kind of tape, or use a better bet with a strong type of glue. Uh, theres basically no chance of wrecking a pad by this mad, because your not touching ANY of the circuitry. |

Is this mod for the Afterburner only or is it good for other pads like the CF? |

It's to fix any pads that use aluminum/copper contacts. CFs already use sheet metal and don't need it. |

So, will it fix the "OMG MY LEFT ARROW IS DEAD!" problem everyone seems to be having, or is that another issue entirely? |

i have a question about sheet metal modding. if i mod the RO AB before using it should i tear off the copper foil on the panel before putting in the sheet metal? or should i leave it in the polycarbon panel and put the sheet metal over it. and which sheet metal is better to use 26 ga. or 30 ga.? |

it's personal preference as far as sheet metal gauge. it says right on the site that you don't have to remove the foil, the sheet metal goes over it. This really doesn't require so many questions, you're making it more complicated than it really is. Just cut some sheet metal, and tape it to the bottom of the arrow. done. |

What about my question regarding the sheet metal mod fixing the problems people have been having...? |

Just to clear things up. I said my left pad was almost dead, well actually that was because the thing was half unplugged XD! So...I'm retarded and my pads were fine still. =P

Depends on the pad and why the pad died. If the control box died or a wire broke off and needs to be soldered back on, it won't work at all. If the copper foil tears and stops conducting, then it will work wonders. |

OK! hopefully this will be the last question(s) do u have to unscrew the panels with a screwdriver? if so, what kind of screwdriver do i need and is it a rare type of screwdriver? and if u have to unscrew the panels are there cords attached to the panel from the pad itself? and is it a pain in the buttocks to get the panels off?
sorry if im asking so many questions but i NEED to have the perfect working dance platform that isnt over $250 and this site has the best people to answer my noobish questions |

It's extremely common in fact

Ok so I tried to fix my pad but just made it even worse. I guess it was a bad idea to pull the female and male connecters apart but I had no other choice to fix what was wrong. Any ideas of what I can do? |

do you think I'd tell you to do a mod that didn't have any effect on your pad's performance? |

No, I was asking more about people complaining about arrows dying and such. I wasn't sure if this mod helped fix that problem or if that had more to do with the control box...
I really, really want Afterburners to be worth buying (since the next step is obviously CF and that's over $100 more), but if their quality control problems continue I won't take the risk |

yeah I've had my Afterburner for two months now.. and i decided to run a test before my warranty expires (i got an added on warranty for extra time) well any way.. i got these two fat kids off the street one day when I saw them walking past my house and asked them if they liked DDR, which of course they did. I had them stomp on my pad for a good hour, and they did a damn good job of cracking my arrows lol. so yeah i recommend not having super fat people (400-500lbs) playing on your afterburner. and also shoes do some damage if you're going for looks (scuff marks, cracks, etc..) _________________
