You guys are just so damn cool! No really. You really look like you're frickin hotshots. Real DDR senseis attempting to enlight the curious newcomer by giving tough love, and then laughing at him.

No no no, I'm not sarcastic! (Where the heck did you get such an idea?) I mean, how sweet it is to see people feel awfully embarassed, and knowing that some way, some how, it was all thanks to you. You had the upper hand on another fellow human being, you did it! You must feel so proud of yourselves, and rightfully so! You must feel like you rule the world with an iron fist!
WARNING! SARCASM-O-METER RATING OVERFLOW! PLEASE REBOOT SYSTEM TO AVOID SECURITY FLAWS!
PS: Some people tried to be nice about it and the message didn't go through... Hopefully it will now. Tricking newcomers isn't cool in anyway, no matter the reason. The best solution remains to ignore the idiots who talk smack... or maybe just act stupid to keep them off guard... _________________

remember the golden rule
Trick noobs as thy have tricked unto you.
Or something.
But I only trick newbs if they annoy me later. If they shape up and mature a little, I will tell them some songs they can play to make them a little better. _________________

Translates to: "Trick noobs as your have tricked unto you." We are will set up you the bomb?
Seriously folks, don't trick newbs who might want to learn but don't know any better. Unless of course they're acting as if they're the greatest thing to ever happen to DDR, in which case, they probably had it coming to them (typical of n00bs, not newbs). _________________

Nobody has ever tricked me, I'm pretty paranoid and pretty observant, too. Any change in lighting or sounds and I seem to somehow pick up on it and find the change. Someone did try once, though. It was this guy and he hit the down arrow when I had just selected Max 300 on Standard. I went into the options menu and changed it, then stared him down. I proceeded to get an A.
I've tricked a friend once, though. (I paid for the game.) I chose Wild Rush on Heavy, when they were on light. The speed changes made their head spin! (He laughed about it later, when I bought him lunch)
I like to help newbies, too. Whenever I watch them play, I remember when I was first starting out. Memories... |

When I first started at the arcade I was pretty much a heavy level noob. We set goals for the week and I remember one goal being 'pass max 300 standard' and the next being 'full combo holic'. During that time there was a guy who would always ask me to do oni with him: Trick oni. I always failed within the first few gallops! I didn't lose anything from trying (it was ten buck tuesday), but it was hysterical that he got me up there in the first place. I think he actually thought I might be able to do more then just a few steps, but he was SO wrong.
Not too long after that I learned how to pass my kids' favorite song: witch doctor. The same guy says to me that if I like gallops I should try this song: So Deep. OMGLOL!! I failed that one. He laughed at me.
This guy is a friend of mine to this day. He definitely overestimated me in my noob days though. _________________

You realize that Tsugaru ~Apple Mix~ doesn't have Heavy/Maniac steps, and only has Challenge/Oni steps, so that part is incorrect, and, by extension, the "hit the bottom arrow" idea to which you refer. _________________

I've pranked newbs. But only the ones that were friends of mine.
For example, this girl (a good friend of mine) didn't know about Oni-only songs. So we threw her onto Tsugaru ~Apple Mix~...she wouldn't let that one go for awhile. XD
Then this other time I put two totally new players on Drop the Bomb Light. XD _________________

Yeah. My friend was doing it and was bragging and stuff, so while she was up there picking the song I changed the difficulty to heavy. (She was on light at the time). She was playing with someone else though, so they kept her alive. Dissapointing. |

I made the mistake of shouting "I LOVE THAT SONG!!!" When some obviuosly new to DDR kid stopped on Cartoon Heroes. (What, a guy can't like AQUA anymore??? ) anyway he picked it and I had no idea it would be that painful for him. |

One time my sis was playing and me and my friend told her to play Speed Mix on heavy, the whole time she was stomping on the pad and jumping all over the place. |

My friends thought it would be funny to set me up doing Matsuri Japan for my first song ever...Needless to say, I bought the game a few days later and have been playing ever since. One instance of the trickery turning for good.
I can't say that I've ever tricked someone into playing hard songs. I've accidentally misjudged difficulty on songs when asked about them, but it's never been intentional. _________________
