On the side of the bar there should be a sort of place where you can attach a bar to attach two pads together.

for everyone with RO AB pads... I have good news, or else, for now I do...

I called Red Octane earlier today. And I spoke to "Harris" which I'm assuming is the manager of something, he sounded all important, hehe. He seemed very polite and told me to just send it in and get a new one. But before he left, I also asked why they're sending out so many defective cboxes. He said they're running low because of high demand and they finally got around to fixing and updating their xbox connectors. I also asked what the problem was with them and why they're so defective. He told me that the reason is that they aren't really registered with the Xbox DDR games 'n connectors 'n stuff so they pretty much just copied the Xbox connector infustructure. This is why sometimes when you just use a connector from another controller, it fixes the problem (but it didn't work for me) and also it works most of the time when you just buy an adapter... PS2->Xbox/USB/USB2/GC or something like that. But just to make sure, I'm giving up a week or two of massive DDR'age to get my new cbox... So as long as my new one work... thank you red octane nerd.gif

Anywayz, AfterBurner's to me so far = excellent, as long as you put in a note to make sure you get a good cbox E4.gif

I would say that overall, the AB is a very good pad. Just don't be surprised if you have problems with it right out of the box or need to call RO Tech support. RO will replace your pad if it doesn't work (as I have learned firsthand laugh.gif ) All in all, the Afterburner is a good investment. I would recommend buying it.

--EDIT--

Found a flaw with mine, idk if anyone else had this problem. If when you turn on the game with the Afterburner plugged in, the game just makes selections for you (as if the selection button was held down), turn on the game WITH NO CONTROLLER PLUGGED IN. When the game gets to the main menu (DDR), or prompts you for a controller (ITG), then plug the AB in. If this topic was already addressed then I apologize.

--DOUBLE EDIT--

This may be a stupid question BUT, How do you connect the AB to the PC via USB?

Use the USB plug that comes in the box and switch it with the XBOX one or just place it onto the right side of the c-box.

Anyways, I made a post about the pad much earlier and now my up-arrows dead. I didn't beat the living poo outta the pads so I suppose it's a wiring problem, but I am getting the Afterburner replaced sometime soon. (I dunno what good this adds, but oh well)

I was just wondering if I were to purshace the RO AB, can I play without shoes? I know that the arrows are sunken in a little bit, so I was unsure if that is safe. Thanks.

I hate playing with shoes, but it is probably dangerous playing with out on this pad because of the lowered arrows cutting your feet and what not. This is why I play with slippers! At least at home. It's worked for me so far! Just passed Max 300 for the first time yesterday!

I have that same problem with the Ignition 3.0. It only happens with the PS2 and not the Xbox. The odd thing is, this was never a problem for me with the Ignition 2.0.

Its still likely you will get a cbox problem, especially if you use the xbox and the pc adapters. But I know the Playstation adapater is pretty good, no disconnection problems.

By the way, you want to make sure that the ps2 to usb adapter is compatible with the pad. You can check at stepmania website at http://www.stepmania.com/stepmania/mediawiki.php?title=USBAdapters.

Good luck with your pad! I know I'm having fun with mine's. I just AA my first 8 footer today, when I was breaking my back to just get an A. E1.gif

So has any one else actually had a good experience with the AB?

so i emailed redoctane a while ago, asking about their control box problems. the guy who answered said the problem was now fixed, so i went ahead and ordered 2 afterburners. the first one came today, and what do you know the usb doesnt work. i only have comp and xbox, neither work, i cant test out the ps2 side (ill probably have a friend come over and try it out). im getting redoctane to get me new control boxes, but i really dont want to wait a week or more so ill probably buy an adapter tomorrow.

thats my story... but i still think the pad feels great and plays great (when it did play lol) so ill keep it.

What a bunch of assholes.

I just got off Live Chat with Red Octane (after trying to phone 4 times with no luck) and the person helping me was a total rod. I had to repeat myself constantly before I could get a straight answer out of him on anything. When I asked if there was anything that I could do to help speed up the 3-4 week return process (like pay extra for express shipping), he told me "there are other customer waiting just like u". Well excuuuuuuuuse me for trying to get speedy service. erm.gif

Screw these guys. Red Octane may be a company created by gamers but they have absolutely the worst customer support I've ever experienced and have allot to learn about running a business. The Afterburner isn't even that great of a pad anyway (the arrows are recessed too deeply and make playing on it feel sluggish).

I'm buying a Cobalt Flux next time.

My Afterburner is currently being shipped back to me after I sent mine in for an exchange... but I think I will try to build this, I love how it looks.

Anyway great idea and thanks for making a site about it so I don't have to do all the measurements myself laugh.gif
