well, i put this..because i want to know your opinion about the beginner mode...
in my point of view ...i think that begnner mode is a rellay waste of time because i think that you really can't learn without the autofailing.....if you fail you learn about your mistakes and it makes you better..so i think you can't learn as well as in other mode..like light

I think that Lesson Mode takes you through the same things as Beginner Mode. However, Lesson Mode is better because it teaches you about 8th note beats, which will prepare you for Light Mode very well. Summary: I think Beginner Mode is for people who want to just get up and play without any extra effort.

Hey Grimm-Dog. I never did a single Beginner song, i started on Light for like two days and then i was on Standard. In my opinion, beginner mode is a waste of time.t

Back in my day, there was no Beginner Mode. E15.gif I don't use it but if Konami wants to stick it on their games, it makes no difference to me.

It only took you 2 days to get to standard?! shocked.gif How many hours a day did you play? I've been doing it for 6 days and still can't get to standard and it is so frustrating.

I agree that it is a good mode if you just want to get on it for the first time and play it once at an arcade. E13.gif
At the same time, it has a disadvantage in that it allows you to put your foot back to the center after each step.
For some, that is difficult to overcome when moving to light mode beause you kinda have to unlearn moving your feet back into the center before you can do well. blink.gif

Ditto to that, plus I started on Trick (yeah, that's what it was called back in the day laugh.gif) at the arcade. *sigh* No believers....I played and play lots of musical instruments, you know.

Beginner mode is misleading. It shows the person returning to the center after she hits a note.

They told me that being able to play instruments would make getting into light and standard mode easier, but it sure as hell didn't make it any easier for me. For a couple months when I first started I could barely handle some beginner songs.

Beginner mode actually does more harm than good in some cases. It makes people believe going back to the middle is the right thing to do. It also gives them the time to go back to the middle so they do so cause the figure says it. If you want to play it go ahead but you really only need to play it for 3 songs or so before you get the basic flow of whats going on. After that you should move to light to push yourself and get the flow better. This is all my opinion though

Hey, I thought the very first DDR had beginner mode... Was the first one at the arcade different from the first one for the PS1?

None of the early arcade mixes had Beginner Mode, nor did any console version prior to the Max series.

How many arguments ive heard from beginner members talking to heavy players about this. It is misleading. I never saw much of a point in beginner mode, the lesson mode is much more helpful. Its pretty easy to go to light after you complete lesson mode.

In my eyes, Beginner mode has one purpose is for somebody playing that will probably never play again. There used to be a machine at a Kahunaville near me and was open until 2am. As the night progressed, people at the bar are getting drunk and are facinated with the game. So, beginner mode is good for people like that at the "select difficulty" screen, they will know to pick beginner (as opposed to just light, standard, heavy) and can experience the game without accidently picking a more intense light song without knowing how difficult it may be. It's been established time and time again that beginner mode is misleading in terms of returning to the center.

3rd mix had soft mode which was kinda like a beginner mode.

Beginner Mode is like 9828479587294387253^823527395723985 times harder than Heavy. Haven't you played Tamayura?! frown.gif[/Stepmania joke]

I started on light on MAXX 1. I was at my friends house (who had metal pads), and I started off getting E's, D's, and C's. After a few songs I played sandstorm and got a B on it on light. My friends who start on beginner never get any better. My sister, who started on beginner, still doesn't realize that you can't take your foot back to the center. I think the best thing to do is to start on light and find out how you do best. Otherwise you just don't get too far.
