1 Mad Catz, although I think it was already defective when I bought it
2 3rd-party soft mats

Weird story: My RO Ignition got very messed up at one point (a stuck left arrow) and finally stopped working at all (no response from any buttons). A few months later I was cleaning out some stuff and decided to try it once more before getting rid of it, and it worked perfectly.

I haven't...

I play 9s and some 10 footers and my Konami (crap pad) works and I can pass 9s with it...

I've played for 9 months on it.

I have a cobalt and a red octane ignition 2.0, still in prime condition.

Pads don't wear out for me.. and I play vigorously.

First mat: Some plastic cheap mat. Needed a better mat; didn't use it for more than three weeks.

Second mat: Still a cheap mat, but made of foam. Corners and arrow paint chipped and destroyed in three hours; returned in a few days.

Third mat: Same mat (we got a 1-year warranty) as second mat, bought for free. After about two weeks, the right sensor was completely worn out; returned in a few days.

Fourth mat: Red Octane Ignition foam mat. Since they ran out of the second/third mat style, they gave us this one because "it was the closest style they had". We had to pay $50 for this, but it was about half price, so I can't complain. Had it for nearly four months; still in great shape. E1.gif

Neither of my pads have crapped out on me either, and I got them at Christmastime.

My RO Metal pad (the 6 panel) still works fine, even though I knocked 2 of the brackets out. (The one between the right and upper right arrows, and the one at the bottom left of the left one)

Have yet to have a pad break. I got a RO Ignition 2.0 six months ago and another four months ago, neither of them has any problems. That really surprises me, 'cause my friends play on 'em and we all do heavy pretty often. Guess i'm just lucky E1.gif

First mat: Crappy $20 mat...lasted about 3 months until I started getting serious on Heavy

Second Mat: Matkatz Beatpad pro...these things suck teh big ones. Started not working the first day and was useless by the end of the week.

Third mat: Another $20 mat...ghost steps like hell, doesn't always register arrows, but sometimes works better than my RO pad so I haven't thrown it out yet

Fourth mat: RO soft mat that just barely works...had it for about 7 months but started not registering steps a while back. I attribute this to accidently stomping the circuit board whilst freestyling.

I'd really like to get a metal one but they're way too expensive for me right now.

Four so far.

Three cheap Mad Catz and one Red Octane middle-end soft pad. I now have an Ignition 2.0 and it has worked for me so far...three months and counting.

Why couldn't I just have a nice, cheap drug habit like everyone else?

4 red octane ignition pads and like 3 soft pads
lol its funny that the red octane pads are supposed to be super good quality yet they brake sooo much more easy then the flexible pads my neighbor has had the same 2 pads for over a year and a half and i have gone through 7 pads in about the same amount of time

When I decided to get the home version three years ago, it was practically unheard of in my area, and the people who did play were arcade regulars anyway. I couldn't find the games or the pads at my local video game stores, and I didn't feel like trekking to Chinatown to get them, so I ordered a bundle from RO with 2 softpads for a lot of money (it averaged to about $25+ per pad). I really liked the game and figured it'd be a good party game, so four days later, I brought a game and one pad to my family friend's house and let some 10-year old kids play on it, which would've been alright if I hadn't realized that playing on plushy carpet was the death of the pad.

I wised up after a while and realized that a soft surface wasn't very good, but the other one started ghosting about two months later, so when I bought a new set of pads, I duct taped them all the way around on my floor. Every softpad, even the cheap Mad Catz ones, lasted anywhere from 6 months to a year, and I was playing Heavy/Cata level for a few hours almost every day. I've gone through about six or so, but a year and a half ago I started transitioning to the arcade, so I don't break soft pads anymore. E1.gif

Most of you must be pretty hard on your pads.

I've been using the same pad for 7 months on heavy and I haven't had any problems.

I don't wear shoes when I play.

I've only used my friend's old Beat Pad (yay for useful graduation gifts!), and it still works after 6 months of play. Granted, I had to put duct tape all over it to repair tears...
