This is sort of a strange question, but I have a friend who is having a uniquely hard time learning DDR/Stepmania due to a very strong low self-esteem. So I was wondering if there are any lessons like the lesson courses on the Konami mix, etc. for download for Stepmania?

All you gotta do is put him on the easiest song you have and slowly have him work his way up. That's just the way it all works. And while you're at it, work on his self esteem, buddy!

Ya, well, I've found a few songs (from bemanistyle.com) that are "rated" 1-3 step but are still a bit too fast, and I just reciently found where to dl original ddr songs. However, I can't find anywhere in stepmania where it will resample the whole song to a slower tempo, the closest I could find was changing the speed/spacing of the arrows. It's been about half a year since I've seen ddr on the playstation, and then, or before then, my friend went through some of the lessons on Konami mix. She strugled with those; you know, make a few mistakes, comments on how bad she is at ddr, steps off the pad for a few beats. Makes it kind of hard to learn.
Thus the query on of anyone has bothered to port the lessons to a sm or dwi file(s). I'm hoping some of the original ddr songs will be easy enough.

Edit some songs to his liking, or turn down the rate on some on stepmania.

Edit works well, because if they're his steps, he'll like to dance them. Trust me a lot of my friends started because of Edit.

There are 2 tutorial simfiles that you can download from Bemanistyle by Havocc that teach the basics of DDR/Stepmania. The files are imaginatively labelled SM Tutorial and SM Advanced Tutorial. Hope they help.

Thanks Hybrid, those tutorials may help a bit, though the rythme of the music isn't very strong.
I'll see if they help.
Has any other tutorials been done? Whenever I actually have time I may want to develop some step lessons myself (this will be when I'm back in college and 4 hours away from my friend who I'm trying to get to learn DDR) frown.gif
