I dont know if shuffled is the right word for this though. what i mean is a song where the beat is a gallop beat. and the arrows at the top blink like a gallop. do you know what i mean? i think songs with a beat of " dat.......dat dat..........dat dat.......dat dat" whould provide an original challenge to DDR what do think? _________________

Syncopated, you mean? It's an interesting idea, but the problem is that syncopation stresses putting notes on the offbeat instead of changing the BPM. |

It wouldn't work. It'd be too difficult to compose a song with enough BPM changes to make quarter note gallops, let alone make decent steps for it. _________________

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

Yeah, you mean BPM changes for no reason other than to make songs harder to read... which is something I never like to see. |

I think Insertion kinda does that in the middle where it rapidly changes between 112 and 114 BPM. but like any song with BPM changes, it would only be difficult to people who don't know to expect it. I guess if you wanted an easy way to change change the BPM whenever you want you could double it (or half it) at any time without being out of sync but that wouldn't really serve any purpose except to annoy people. _________________

Yes, that could possibly be the biggest BPM jump in existance. So big that it is hardly noticed. I think this perfectly fits the description that the topic author gave us. Good job!
A BPM jump like that could seriously be annoying. I played a song called Seven at my friend's house and it was pretty annoying. It changed the BPM by doubling it every measure for one beat then putting it back. It's kind of cool, but too annoying for my taste. |

Nowhere. No DDR songs have this BPM mayhem. It has a speed change, but that doesn't even matter. It is the HUGE speed changes that funkify the entire song, not the mini 10 BMP changes. |

Im not talking about BPM changes. im talking about syncopated or shuffled of whatever its called. Like if they integrated a new feature into EX2 or Ultramix 3 or something. where the ACTUAL beat of the song is syncopated. no chaotic BPM changes or anything. I dunno, i think it would be a good new challenge to DDR. _________________

If there were a song with a beat like that, the BPM would have to change so much to match the beat, right? |

Think about what the "B" in "BPM" stands for. If the beat is changing in the way you're describing, then by definition, the BPM is changing also. |

Well. its to hard to describe on here i guess. but there are songs with the beat i am describing. they arent on DDR obviously though. But anyway. _________________

I think we know what you're saying... I think the problem is that you're associating the presence of 8th notes and 16th notes with a change in the beat... when in fact that IS the beat. If you want a beat to sound like "ba ba-ba ba-ba ba-ba" you do it by placing the notes there with that kind of spacing, not adjusting the bpm on the fly to force every note to be a quarter note (which IS what you're asking for, whether you realize it or not) |

That part in Insertion is right after the left right double freeze. It took me forever to Perfect those steps when the BPM changes like that. And that is a very good example for this topic. |

Songs with "shuffled" beats still have 4/4 time. See Heaven is a '57 Metallic Grey and Burning Heat. _________________

I think Pop'n and slowpoke are right. While the songs may not have the "true" syncopated BPM, the steps are spaced just enough to simulated a syncopated beat. I have to point out Heaven is a 57, that is a great example. |

Wait, do you all mean "swing?"His57MG swings (eighth notes have a feel of 12ths missing the middle step), which works on the same principle as Burning Heat.
Or are you talking about songs with gallops that start on the beat(R&P) instead of finish on the beat (In the Navy, etc)? It sounds like no two people are talking about the same thing. _________________
