Drew and Keith....Names I will hold in honor for many years to come. This truely was a major accomplishment - It seems that people don't understand how hard it would be to do anything for 40 hours straight. We all should rally together and make Guiness create a new record for DDR. That truely is BS that you recieved no recognition from them. Both of you did this not for fame, pride, or glory, but for charity and friends. You all have my deepest admiration. A hearty handshake to both of you!
If not recognition from Guiness, than some other way. We should MAKE them realize what a feat this is.

There are no corner jumps on Beginner mode, so basically all of the quote "DDR skill" it requires is to stand on the brackets and shift your weight every couple of seconds. This literally equates to standing upright for 40 hours straight. Assuming I didn't fall asleep, I could eat, drink, watch TV, and get a blowjob while playing Beginner mode.
If this is going to be a DDR record, then make it hard enough that some movement has to be required? Unless you have a godly future technique most people would still have to jump on songs like Jam Jam Reggae or Make It Better heavy. I'm sure there is already a "stand up for ten days" record or something, and those people don't get breaks. |
What he said.
While it's quite nice and impress what you did for your friend, what you did really has nothing to do with DDR, and it's for good reason Guiness can't accept this as a world record attempt, for the reason they stated you in their responce. |

Here is the closest place for you. Be conciderate. Most people are ignorant and tell you to do it yourself even though technically you have to. In any case the place is in the city where you live. |

this goes back to what toady said about the record being "easy, unchallenging, etc" BS. This is not the same as standing. Standing requires no movement. Standing doesnt have mesmorizing lights flashing in front of you that could make you lose focus. BTW, the record for standing is 72 hours set by some random kid in some middle east country. This record would not be easy. I run track and i am nearly a semi-state champion. I am only a freshman and i run a 10:02 3200 meter (2 miles) race. I could barely do this for 20 hours if i tried, let alone 40; and i can run for a long time. I do 100 mile races on foot in the summer. Running that l;ong takes me about 30 hours. DDR, however, is somehow more difficult. Running has momentum on its side. When you run, you cant fall asleep unless you havnt slept for 5 days. Playing DDR, you can easily fall asleep. Just think abuot all of that stuff for me will you? I mean hey, this guy didnt want a bunch of flamers like you to get on his case. He didnt want the glory, he wanted to see his friend.
P.S. Lets see you do it. |

How could u have a 30 second break in between each song? What happens when u get a gameover after u beat so many songs u couldnt get the game started up fast enough. Can you try and beat the record at home on PS2 or an xbox and can u fail a song? if uve got any info or can awnser any of these questions email me at [email protected]. |

According to the rules that we went by, a game-over meant haulting the record. Your time stopped right there, otherwise my friend would have kept going.
As far as the technicalities of playing with 30 seconds between songs, and playing past arcade hours... talk with the arcade manager. If they arent part of a huge chain with strict rules and regulations, there's a big chance of talking them into it. All you have to do is present the idea to them in a friendly manner, let them know it is for charity, and try to compromise with any business loss (say a certain amount is deducted from the proceeds due to loss of business). Make sure there are responsible adults at all times, and it really shouldnt be a problem. I think they'd be happy to see anyone attempt a record for charity. Heck, gives them publicity too. |

Hahahaha, wow.
I know this is a late reply, but I feel compelled to address this ridiculous post.
First of all, I never used the words "easy" or "unchallenging" in my post. Therefore, you shouldn't quote me as using those words. I said that it didn't take any DDR skill.
Secondly, it's great that you are a track runner. It really is. But you are not going to get better at DDR by running. I would be willing to put money that I could play for considerably longer than any track runner without considerable DDR experience simply because my technique is far more energy efficient. When you say that DDR is more difficult than running, it is only because you have a horrible technique.
Thirdly, you said that standing requires no movement - neither does Beginner. It takes a simple weight shift on the bracket. Your feet will never move an inch. I suggest you research a playstyle called "Future" which can easily be applied to Beginner mode and requires virtually no stamina.
Fourth, I would never waste my time doing that unless I would receive a considerable monetary contribution. I seriously do not care, nor do I consider doing -anything- on Beginner mode an accomplishment. However, if you and your friends could pool together around $2500, I would gladly meet your challenge. I mean, I only have like 96 heavy AAAs on Extreme and six tournament wins last time I checked, and my technique doesn't involve me moving, so I'm not particularly concerned about stamina or losing focus, especially considering you get breaks which is ridiculous in and of itself.
Fifth, the flamer comment was pretty unnecessary. I didn't personally attack anyone in my post. I have a girlfriend that plays, thank you for asking, though.
Bye. _________________
